Default T56 Manual... Is it just me or....

With the T56 xmission, it seems like a whole lot of folks have problems shifting, staying in gear and slippage.... I thought I wanted to convert my LS swap with a T56 but Im not so sure now...

How can I prevent all of these shifting problems, staying in gear and clutch problems from happening??? I have never owned a manual shift GM car so I have no idea how they actually work with decent driving...

Can someone shed some light on this subject please to help me decide if I want to stick with a T56 or just go with a 4l60-80E....

Please give any and all opinions, as I am trying to make a the best possible educated decision for my swap......

It my be helpful to know that I love driving manual shift and I think it would be the coolest to have my muscle/classic car to be a manual shift...

I was in your shoes once and even posted about it (see the link below).

What you have to remember is most people only post when they have an issue. Since making that post, I have enjoyed my T56 and can say I have never had any one of the issues you mention.

Great input... I never thought of that, people only post when it's not right

Just make sure the hydraulics are all in good shape and you have a good shifter and you shouldn't have any problems. The stock shifter usually causes missed shifts for whatever reason. I have a hurst in my car and it shifts fine. My only complaint is when it gets cold out the tranny is really notchy until it warms up. That is normal for most manuals though so it's not that big of a deal.

90% of issues are caused by poor hydraulics.

Exactly. To the op, what is your swap vehicle? Our adjustable master kits have helped hundreds of people with shifting issues. We may be able to come up with a master that will work in your application... Older muscle cars can actually run a t56 with a linkage also if you want to avoid hydraulics completely...then you could play with the location of the linkage to the pedal in order to get the proper clutch disengagement.

Take it from someone who has gone from a 4L60E to a T56, you'll have more problems with your 4L60E.

Keep it ALL stock and take care of the trans and you will avoid most issues that you see on here.

Exactly.

The more fluid you can push makes it infinitely easier to quick shift, more positive input. I absoluetely love it.

Just to throw a few things out there. Sometimes what transmission fluid you run can make a driveability a "make or break" depending on the condition of the trans.

Only problem I had was when I started making more power the clutch started slipping. Street Twin/McLeod master and the only thing thats slips now are tires.

Im not quite sure when you guys say "hydraulic problem".. I know how to drive a manual, but I am not sure about what is hydraulic in them?? Clutch pedal??

I hear that 4L60E is the most common and best route to go with an AT. I had a buddy that had problmes with "plastic parts" that are in his... I dont know eactly what parts there were but I know he talked about them several times..
