Default few flywheel questions

ok ive heard of factory, billet steel, and the billet aluminum. whats the weight differences? and who has the best prices for them? this is gonna go on with a spec stage 3 clutch and the car will see the strip sometimes and its my everyday car.

I'm getting a spec stage III myself next month somtime (hopefully) and the flywheel i'm going with is a Fidanza aluminum flywheel. Said to be 11.5 lbs. Like i said i don' thave it yet, but thats just a little FYI for ya.

I'll post back hopefully at the beginning of May on how it the clutch/flywheel setup goes.

i did, just asked the price on the flywheel. i think if you get the flywheel and clutch from there you get like 20 bucks off the flywheel. but wherer i got the clutch was free shipping, and its a heavy piece so thats nice

why you want a light weight flywheel???
if you want it for autocross and road racing ok...
but it will hurt you at the drag strip...

the lost inertia causes you to have to launch at a higher rpm just to keep from bogging off the line and often time that leads to hitting the hp point that your tires light up on....
if nothing else it makes you MUCH less consistant....

if you are going to road race or autocross then get it.. it will free up 2-3 poneys...

hope that helps

yeah i know it, i just cant find a factory flywheel cheap, if you can tell me where to get it i will. im lookin at the billet steel which isnt really that mcuh lighter but is more reliable from what i am told. i really dont know but i know i dont want aluminum cause its too light for street/strip use. but do you know where i can find a factory steel one?

well cause ill be doing the clutch at about 9pm and noone will be open to do it for one and for 2 i dont wanna have my flywheel have hot spots or be messed up and then having to put the car back together again. its my only car or other wise i would do it. plus everyone has been sayin do it all once so you dont have to go back again

Maybe it's just a myth, but I don't believe you are supposed to resurface the factory flywheel....?
