Default Please help me with choosing clutch!

I have a 2001 trans am with a 6 speed. I am looking for a new replacement clutch and there are too many options, places to buy, and different opinions on what to get. I need the following:

-clutch
-new flywheel
-pressure plate
-throwout bearing

anything else? I want a kit/set and want something a lil more than stock and it needs to be relatively quiet. My mods are lid, catback, ported throttle body, and I will be adding a ftra, pulleys, and a few other lil things down the road. I might be going to the track 2-3 times this summer, so something to keep in mind. I want something that is very reliable, i don't want to have to do this again in the near future! Thanks for the help and i'm looking forward to your responses. P.S. great board and lots of useful information!

anybody? please? I am looking to do this asap so i need feedback and i'm tired of calling shops that keep recommending different setups even tho some sell the same products. I am getting very conflicting choices. I've been looking at Spec, Ram, and Mccloud. I want to keep this under $1,000. I prefer to spend about $600-$800 on everything. Let me know!

i have the ram 910 from futural motor sports and i love it. i do have a head and camed car,but the clutch dont feel too much more them stock. it has been quiet,no chatter w/3.73's,smooth,the pedle is not that stiff and it has had great street maners. it has also performed awsome at the track. out of my 4-clutches i like it the best. if your not running slicks or drags on a near stock motor it may be too much for you,i don't know. you may want to look into a zo6 clutch. call allen at futural motorsports,he can help with your needs. goodluck to ya, mike c.

thanks for the replies. Remember i am looking for something in the $60-$800 range including flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing, alignment tool. Any other opinions? It seems that i have to buy all separate pieces for a RAM set up and I'm not sure about SPEC since I keep hearing so many people complaining about noise being an issue. I'm huge on something being mechanically quiet! Remember this needs to be a mild set up, streetable, cost effective b/c i'm on a tight budget. I do appreciate any input and need to still do something in the next two weeks as my clutch is starting to go and my throwout bearing is so loud

I got the McLeod single disk kevlar/organic setup with the steel flywheel for about 350. I didn't get the throwout bearing or alignment tool, nor the adjustable master, but if you can find a setup like this, I'd definitely say go for it. I love this clutch so far. The spec stg IIIs that I've ridden in are grippy, but a little too much for me driving it everyday. This one feels almost stock-like. Good luck.

I see that there is a RAM HDX kit from new era performance that goes for $339. Am I better off going for a 910 clutch from RAM. I want everything included in this kit, i figure since down there might as well replace everything. Mike C. where did you order your kit through and do you remember the kit id #? I really need to do this soon and i think i'm gonna stay away from SPEC since i'm hearing so much about chatter. I want something quiet and gonna last, its bad enough to have to replace this now! Thanks for all the help

i ordered my ram 910 from allen at futural motorsports. no i don't remember the part #,but it's not the clutch you can tune yourself. we put it in and away i went. i hope this helps. you want a clutch that will last? well i've beat the hell out of this ram,i've pulled my front wheels off the ground atleast 40 times, and it still feels like it did when i put it in. if my clutch ever dies,i'll only buy ram from now on,its been that good for me. i hope your luck is good too.
