Default Clutch Recommendations Please (150 Shot daily driver)

Started spraying and after one night at the track I realize I need a new clutch. It still is OK for street use but slips whe dumped @ 3k at the track and now that I have to grap 4th the slave just isn't up to it. Looking at the RAM as it seems to be the best value but while the same PP always seems to be used I have heard two different disks used, the 9x0's and the 3160's.

Is the pedal pressure from the 402 PP outrageous or anywhere near stock?

Which disk would you recommend for a 135-150 shot on top of my other limited mods? I don't really want a lot of chatter on the street as I onlt drag it a couple times a year.

Summit is the cheapest I've found so far and they only seem to sell the 3160 disk. Where to get a 9x0 disk if I go that route?

TIA

I've got a really nice Ram setup that sticks like glue. I got it from MMT in Dallas (now HPE of Dallas). HPE is local to Houston so you may try giving them a call. 281-448-1300 http://www.horsepowerengineering.com/

Thanks guys. Talked to RAM and they recommended against the 6300 disk and recommended a 402/980. I'm pricing that from HPE now.

Thanks for the input guys. After talking to several people I've decided to go with a RAM PowerGrip Stage III which is a 402 PP (2800#) and a 980 disk which is organic on the flywheel side and steel on the PP side. This should allow it to be used with the stock cast flywheel without eating into it. Got it from New Era Performance for a nice price.

They recommended spraying on that clutch? Thats what I use, and I've been advised not to spray on it.

Yes, with my limited mods and stock flywheel that's what they suggested. It's a daily driver that only see's the track 2-3 times a year. The 910 disk would have been my next option but it would likely have eaten my flywheel up in short order.

Although now I'm thinking of getting an AL flywheel.....

Don't go aluminum.. go billet steel. Aluminum will kill your launch (inertia).

It may require launching at a higher RPM but it also allows you to rev faster which allows you to reach your peak horsepower faster as well as freeing some HP up from reducing the rotational weight.

Different strokes for different folks. Some of us aren't big into dyno numbers. Your best track times would likely come with the billet steel.. Some of us can't dump the clutch any higher than the 6000 we already are to make up for it Anyhow, I think you will like the 980 disk. It has done 8k of daily driving for me and 21 passes. 5 of those dumping from 5500+. Going to the track again today at 6pm to put another 3-5 passes of abuse on it

Good Luck,
Josh

I can definitely see how it would affect launching. Since I only launch @ 3k now I was thinking I would have to launch @ 5k or so with an AL. Street tires, non-funflats, 3.42's. If you're already dumping @ 6k I could see how that would cause issues.

The AL disk would not only help on the dyno, it would let you rip through each gear faster which should technically allow a higher trap speed which we are all interested in. But again, the lauch.

Thanks for the reassurance on the 980. You're previous comment made me doubt the organic side of the 980 disk. Does it have and copper flecks in it or is it totally organic? Do you run your's on a stock flywheel? If I stick with my stock one I will need to get it machined but I have heard that that is not such a good idea on the stock cast disk?

Thanks for all the feedback!
