Default Cracks in t56 housing

I just got myself a beutiful 2002 ws6 as I was hunting down an oil leak I noticed spiderweb like cracks in different places on my t56 I have included some pictures. The cracks are white because they have baby powder in them from the oil leak hunt haha. Should I be worried about it or is it normal? Thanks!!

a lot of the castings on t56's are pretty rough mine has similar markings. was oil coming out of them in the baby powder? If not you may want to check the shift detent plate and shifer at the top of the trans if you cant find the leak elseware

Those are not cracks( at least the pictured ones) . They are heat checks from a worn die. The powder trick would have found a leak here if they were, in fact, a crack.

I had a similar concern when I had mine rebuilt, the builder told me its common with the t-56s. I wouldn't sweat it unless you had a leak through a crack.

The rear main really isn't that big of a deal...pull the trans, clutch and flywheel and replace. I swapped mine while the trans was out for a rebuild. Now it's about the only place on the motor that doesn't leak!
