Default Monster clutchs? $$$

So I need a new clutch, this is a daily driver 99 camaro Ls1 with 243 heads,vrx4 cam fresh rebuild.I was looking at monster clutch cause I have never heard anyone say bad about them on here. But for a stage 2 u are looking at $850 (including the slave) are they worth it? Is anybody saying them cheaper or having a sale ? Any recommendations on a good but cheaper clutch

I have had both their stage 2 and 3 clutch and liked both of them. Monsters customer service can't be beat IMO. I do think that I will spend some more cash and get into a lighter set up when the next time comes.

Monster S2 is probably about right for you. You could go Monster S1, which would be a bit milder clutch (easier to drive) and be good up to 450 pounds of torque.

The stock LS7 is a cheaper upgrade option, but it's a heavier clutch than the monster, which can make the lower RPMs and throttle response feel sluggish. Cammed cars run better on lighter clutches IMO.

I know **** is expensive on these things, but don't cheap out on the clutch. It's too much of a pain to drive a crappy clutch and then you get sick of it, and its a pain to replace, and then you're in it for more money than if you just bought the more expensive clutch in the first place.

I've got the Monster Stage 3 and I love it. I opted to go with the Stage 3 because it gives me plenty of room to grow and not have to worry about replacing it later down the road. The Monster Stage 3 should be plenty for when I add a D1SC Procharger down the road.

I'm replacing mine and got the lightweight. I read only good things about getting a lighter flywheel and clutch setup. Mine is only partially installed due to other holdups.

I liked it. A bit heavy on the pedal feel, and if I tried to feather it a lot, it was a bit chattery, but I daily drove it for 15000 miles, and it still looked like this:

15000 miles on this pressure plate

15000 miles on this disc

I recently installed a stage 2 monster with 28 lbs flywheel. Also installed adjustable tick master cylinder and new gm slave cylinder with speed bleeder and arp bolts. Ordered everything through tick performance over time as sales were posted and funds permitted. Watch for sales around holidays and with tax return season coming up. S2 can be found a couple hundred cheaper than price above. Setup wasn't cheap, but very nice quality parts. Installed everything myself with hand tools on Jack stands to save some cash.

Coming from 100% stock I'm happy, but I'm also still on break in period. S2 drives very smooth for a 550 hp clutch and customer service from tick and monster was exceptional. From what I've heard S3 will glaze and chatter if not driven aggressively due to puck design which is why I chose S2 instead. Please remember tick master will shrink clutch pedal engagement significantly over stock and add noticeable stiffness; stock master might be better for daily driving. Always measure for shim; I needed one.

Diamond clutches are worth a look. I've had the Stage II behind my 408 and it is doing great. Everyday manners are also very good.
