Default Right clutch choice for me?

Hello,

I have a 02 z28 with a t56, its going to make right around 410rwhp NA and I might throw a 150 shot on it down the road. It has a steel driveshaft and a 9" rear and the factory LS6 clutch gets sticky after a few hard shifts so i'm looking to upgrade. Im going to be launching the car fairly hard with 5-6k rpm dumps so looking for a clutch that will handle that and still maintain good streetability since it is my daily driver. So far, I like the Mcleod RST, Spec Stage 2+, and the Monster Level 2. However, after talking to Mcleod, they don't recommend hard launching with the RST. Any other recommendations? Looking to spend less than $800

Honestly? The RXT is a win win, it's a bit pricey, but it's one less thing you have to worry about and it drives like stock. I wish I had went twin disk from the beginning.

The level 2 is a good budget clutch. It has a good pedal effort, and close to stock feel on engagement. However its not rated for nitrous, so it will cut into the longevity of the unit.

The best over all clutch would be the LT1-S, its rated for 700WHP/TQ but drives exactly like stock. Also it will outlast any after market clutch, and unlike the RST we encourage hard launches.

Get a twin or a triple. had bad experiences with monster clutches in the past. a Mantic, RXT, or a Textralia would be a good choice. Even an ls7 Clutch could work for awhile.

IDK where you will find a track in SoCal that 5-6k clutch dumps won't result in anything but massive tire smoke. Track prep other than the one NHRA test & tune at Famosa beginning of the year is zero. Every other track on test & tune days is barely a broom before the 1st session

with that said, get a twin disc clutch. McLeod advises the RXT vs the RST is you intend frequent 1/4 mi track use.

If you plan to frequent the drag strip, the price of a good dual disk will be well worth it!

IMO a good twin disc is well worth it under most circumstances

I still have no idea why you would buy a clutch with more holding power then the mainshaft inside the transmission can hold? At 27 splines dumping it with a set of mickey drag radials you will twist the yoke and the mainshaft eventually. Sooner then later if you track the car a lot. Obviously get the clutch with the holding power needed for your application. But using a 1200hp clutch on a 27 spline mainshaft is asking from trouble.

I went with the dual friction 12" Centerforce after readings some good reviews on it, will post impressions later
