Default Openings into the Bell Housing

This is my first Ls project, but in all my days in the car hobby, every clutch I ever worked with, was wholly enclosed inside the bell housing. Even the fork opening was sealed with a boot. I have an Ls crate motor and a Tremec T56 Magnum transmission. Check out the holes into the clutch are. GM pressure plates are bare steel. Can't imagine how it will fare under these open conditions. Running on the freeway in the rain will pass a lot of water through these holes and out the 4 in the bell housing to transmission mating surface. Am I missing any parts here?

There is a plastic for each side that covers those holes up.

I've seen posts where people removed them on purpose to gain better cooling of the clutch. People also vent their bell housings to get airflow in there.

It's a non-issue unless you have a freak accident like a tool in the roadway flopping up there.

Tremec bellhousings have been modified for better airflow; look at a 5th gen unit.

So I should not be concerned about these 4 holes in the bell housing either? The two upper small ones do not worry me. Seems like they might have been intended to pass the TOB hydraulic lines. Have no clue what the right bottom one would have been for, but the larger one on the left may have been intended for a fork.

Firstly...you dont show any pictures of a bellhousing.

The front flange of that gearbox doesnt have any "holes" either....although there are some cutouts ? Is this what you're referring to ?

They wont be a problem unless some baby elephants climb in and start nesting in there.

Also on the tr6060 in newer cars have more holes in the bellhousing for extra ventilation, the clutch dust was determined to be a leading factor in slave cyl. failures due to the extra fine clutch dust getting past the seal in the slave cyl. and contaminating the clutch fluid as well as causing the seal to ultimately fail.

I had 2 mice make a nest inside my bell housing, full of insulation and leaves. Their **** pitted the bottom of my bell housing, it was fun to clean up, good luck!
