Default RPS clutch going in this weekend *Pic heavy*

So last summer the Ram Power grip HD gave up the ghost and slipped really bad on me and welded it self together. After just having my son there was no way the wife was letting me spend this kind of money on the toy until the medical bills were paid, so the car sat broken again for a few months.

Finally tax season came and I was able to buy this beauty... RPS's full carbon street twin. Hopefully I'll have her in and driving again on Sunday. Really looking forward to seeing how different the car drives with the lighter twin disk VS the heavy Ram unit. Stuck the two clutches on the scale today to see the difference. RPS came in at 38.6# complete, and the Ram weighed 52.0# for a 13.6# diet. The RPS clutch disks weigh 2.2# each for 4.4# total and the Ram came in at 5.8# for a 1.4# diet on my input shaft. So far customer service has been top notch, spoke with Rob the owner of RPS today for some final installation instructions, and measurements. Very educational chat today. Here's some pics of this bad boy.

I'll update how she drives next week if I can put some miles on her... It's been snowing up here again.

Ah, ****!!!!

Congratulations! Kids are fun.

When you get the clutch in I'm sure you'll really like it.

That center piece with the splines on it - put some valve lapping compound in the input shaft and put the splined part on and move it back and forth to clean and polish both surfaces. Help ensure smooth shifting

Thanks man kids are fun, my 2 put a smile on my face daily.

You were the reason I looked into the RPS unit, just wish I would have found your thread with the even lighter Mamo version before I ordered this model. Would of had a decision to make on what to get, either way I haven't heard anything bad about RPS so I'm feeling good. This thing is impressive to see first hand.

Thanks for the tip, I'll throw some lapping compound on it tomorrow before installation.

Good deal! Just make sure to clean it up real good after polishing.

It'll wake the car up. Youll be surprised

Holly Friction Surface Batman...that clutch has triple the friction surface of a single disc clutch. It appears to be completely rebuild able and very well made

Darth...always liked your avatar :-)

You are correct sir, this thing is sooooo smooth to shift and to engage/disengage. In the 15 years I've had this car, bone stock to what it is now this is by far the best it's ever been. It definitely makes the car drive different, more snappy with the throttle response for sure. Going to have to relearn the car a bit.

This thing is very well made, and the way it drives is even better. You are correct on the rebuild able part too. RPS told me you can send the entire unit back and they will replace all the carbon and re balance the unit. You get it back like new, didn't ask the cost.

The Mamo version has five friction surfaces!!!! Weighs 31 pounds.

Making the avatar was the fun part!

Notice how nicely polished that shaft is?

Very nice piece. Too bad it's not in the budget of every hot rodder.

I had a little buyer remorse after I ordered this clutch, hopping to it would meet the expectations for the price as well... It did and then some, very glad I saved and spend a few $100 more on this clutch VS other twin disk units.

Very pleased with this clutch, finally got to go out hit some 6,500 RPM shifts... This clutch shifts just as smooth at 6,500 as it does at 2,000 RPM. Holds all my power with out slipping... Love this clutch, it was worth saving up for.
