It's a mn12 which has great gear ratios imo. I'm soon putting one in my 63 chevyII wagon. If you have a bench seat you might have to notch it or get a mid shift conversion done.

I did the mid-shift conversion on mine without tearing the trans apart. It is tricky, but can be done. Works great with a Core shifter.

Thanks...that's probably one of the first things I'll look into...

Did you do a write up, or take pictures when you did it???

Edit: Found a pretty good write up over on Performance trucks...

Keep in mind that with the gto bell housing you'll have to use the gto starter.

Thanks for the info showdog...did not know that...

All my other swaps I've used the 5.3-6.0 truck starters.

I did the one off Performance trucks. Worked great. The biggest issue I had was the piece from McLeod. The first one they sent me looked like a kid made it with a drill and hammer.

The nose on a GTO starter is different due to the location of the starter being moved slightly. If I recall, it was rotated down a small amount. Not a huge issue. Just be sure to use a GTO starter.

The starter pocket on a GTO bellhousing is a tad smaller thus requiring a gto's specific starter that has a slightly smaller nose cone. The fbody bellhousing starter pocket and starter nose cone is a tad larger, you can use the GTO starter with the fbody bellhousing. I've seen some threads where they grind and clearance the GTO bellhousing in order to use the more plentiful and cheaper $$ fbody starter.

RPM Transmissions charges $750 for your core, so that's a good deal..
