t56 magnum 6- speed
currently have a 2013 camaro tr6060 w/no miles on it. and iam putting it into a 1966 nova. the out put shaft and remote shiftier will be a problem so my thoughts are to look at the magnum t56 6-speed and was wondering what the true cost of this trans will be after the 3,050 dollars for the unit will be. can i use my bell housing, slave cylinder etc. also should say that i will be using the ls3 motor in this project. the t 56 magnum was an option but would consider others as well. I would like to stay with a 6-speed

Scratch that...looks like it only works with the early Tr6060...

The Magnum does not have an integral bell, like the TR 6060, but I believe you can install the Tr6060 bell on the T56 Magnum. Or you can use the F-body bell with the Magnum. The F-body slave is popular for swaps, since there are numerous options for hydraulic line hook ups.

The T56 Magnum requires the following:
T56 Magnum (comes with shifter)
Fbody Bellhousing
bolt kit
slave
Fbody pilot bearing
braided s/s quick disconnect clutch line
VSS plug (if running an electronic speedo)
mechanical speedo plug with O-ring (block off this unused port)

If you don't want to run the remote shifter, you can install a mid shift kit on it like the t56. The Driveshaft Shop can make you a custom driveshaft that will work with it. They use a CV on the front of the shaft that bolts to the triangle flange so that you still get the in and out movement that you would get from a slip yoke.
This is the one they made for me. It's in a 08 trailblazer ss.

Bumping this one.
What exactly do they need to do to a Magnum...to FBody it ?
Is it just a rear casing swap with some machining, or is it much deeper than this ?
I'd like to move to a Magnum, and FBody fitment would be so so much easier, but the generic Magnum is a fair bit cheaper and I can buy one locally for half sensible money.
The FBody version would need shipped in from the US directly which adds considerable cost. Although that would be outweight a little by not requiring shifter alterations or driveshaft alterations.
The shifter absolutely must remain in the stock FBody position. Forwards as per Magnum is not an option.
Surely some people have DIY'd this conversion ?

I did find some pictures online showing some welding around one of the bearing areas in the rear F casing. So presumably something needs modified there for the larger bearings of the Magnum ?
Obviously the output shaft is too long, but I'd guess that's a simple grinder chop ? as it's only around 2" or so.
Given the likes of D&D offer a converted Magnum for only $700 more than an actual Magnum....the work/parts required really cannot cost too much given they're already having to supply a tail housing.

RSGear was running a special for an f-body magnum recently, 3200 if you have a core. A little cheaper than d&d but I understand some don't have a core to work with. They also were offering the 2.29 super close ratio gear set.
I'm still interested in what it would take to convert an out of the box magnum. I'm not afraid of doing the work but I'd like to know what's involved before I make any moves.

2.29 first might work ok for someone with less power and/or a shorter final drive.
It would make for one very very long 1st gear on mine, not anything I'd even consider.

My car is primarily for the road course, a 2.29 would work well for me considering I could put a shorter final drive in it and get more acceleration with my limited power. Not necessarily for everyone else. Either way, it's a nice option to have more ratio choices.
