Default CTSV T56 What's it worth???

Cadillac CTSV T56. Are these worth picking up to convert to F-body, GTO, or just for spare parts...???

And what would a used one be worth??

I'll say they're definitely worth something as they are the mn12 version with triple cone synchronizers. Yes the can be converted to a gto trans by swapping the main shaft and tail shaft housing. If you need the shifter in the rear it'll require work to the shift rail.

Really...so $500-$600 for a rebuildable core wouldn't be out of line???

I wouldn't give 1k-2k for a used and in unknown condition manual trans. If I were gonna get that deep I'd opt for a new magnum t56. I'd say no more than $500-600.

You cannot convert a Ctsv to an fbody, gto idk.
I think most or all internals are not useable in an fbody t56, gto idk.
You can buy a mid mount shifter setup for it as the stock one is the longest shifter setup made and not ideal in most swaps.

You are incorrect. You can swap the main shaft and tail shaft housing with gto stuff. Both are mn12 with the triple cone synchronizesrs. You will have to have to modify a f-Body or gto shift rail if you want to run the reverse lockout solenoid and have the shifter in the rear.i have one that's been converted.

You did read i put gto idk?
So where am i wrong at?

If there’s an fbody conversion its the first ive heard of it.
But I.D like to know exactly what it’ll take to put an fbody shifter in a stock location on a V t56 as i have a spare v t56. Then here’s where i am wrong

You'll need a gto main shaft and tail shaft housing. You'll have to use the f-Body shifter cup. The gto/f-body tail shaft housing is the same part.

That’s for a gto configuration or setup show?
Or fbody shifter and placement will work with what you posted.
Reason i said it wouldn’t work as i called tdp and they said V was its own tranny vs fbody and nothing would work. I bought it as a spare for my v, then thought i could use it in one of my swaps if needed.

F-body shifter is how mine is setup. Only difference in f-body and gto shifter is the shifter cup. The trans are the same physical dimensions biggest difference is the gto trans is the mn12 version with triple cone synchronizers.

I run an F-body shifter in my 2005 GTO t56 that's swapped into my 72 A-body wagon...like said, I just changed the shifter cup.

Just wondering about parts...I know what the "triple cone syncros" cost when I had to rebuild mine...if those parts are good in it, they might be worth it alone...
