Default MGW Shifter rattle?

Hey folks,

Installed MGW short throw on my 02 WS6....it feels great. However I do notice a slight rattle from shifter at higher rpms that I never heard from OEM shifter. Anyone else notice this? I cant imagine something with installation being wrong as it shifts and there is really nothing to it, pops in and four bolts. Thanks for any feedback from other owners.

Yes has the bronze isolator; Looking at pics I see a bolt that can be tightened next to where shifter is inserted. Should that be tightened? Also do folks put rubber boot under or above that bronze square?

post a few pics if you can please.

BTW, it's common to hear noise if you are using a bronze isolator cup. Some people go back to the plastic ones for that reason.

I spent $30 on eBay and bought a spare lower boot to cut up to fit my MGW shifter. Got the idea from another member here!

I hear no rattle on mine. I also have the bronze cup. But honestly, I have a lot of other rattle so I just play the radio and I don't hear the rattle anymore. The torque arm alone is noisy af.

I did the same thing you did. I've never had an issue with it that way.

Its likely your shift ****, you have a little allen screw holding it down after twisting the shift **** on correct? Take that allen screw all the way out and twist the shift **** all the way down tight and drive the car and see if there is a difference. That is what was making a little rattleish noise on mine.

Mine is A LOT quieter than the SLP/Hurst shifter it replaced, but I noticed my MGW is especially loud in 2nd gear at higher RPM's on mine. I did NOT upgrade to the brass insert either...
