Default Clutch pedal stuck

I was driving my m6 z28 and at a stop sign the clutch got stuck about 3/4 of the way down. I couldn’t get it into gear but when the car was off, it would slip into gear. I finally stomped on the clutch and it came back up with no issue and shifted fine since.

i read that this could be a slave cylinder, but those issues seem to to have the clutch go limp to the floor, which mine didn’t. Also the clutch doesn’t feel mushy or anything. I should also note that it is some sort of performance clutch, not sure what type and supposedly has under 5k on the clutch. The clutch pedal feels very firm before and still feels it after this issue.

has anyone ever had a similar problem? Is it some kind of weird one time occurrence where the pedal got stuck somehow?

Mine stock clutch would get stuck if I had to sit at a stop light or stop sign with the clutch pressed in when id pull my foot up the pedal would stay down. I could turn car off and get it in and out of gear.

I could also pump the pedal and that would help. Mine was a master cylinder. Replaced it with a tick performance.

thanks for the feedback. Any idea how long I could potentially go and not have another tissue? I drove it 30+ miles and it hasn’t done it again. Also, what would labor typically run one these?

It sounds like it hung up momentarily and it could be due to dirty fluid in the system. When's the last time you replaced the brake fluid?

ive only had the car less than a year and I have not done it, so I’m not sure. I’m just going to go
on a limb and say it was at least a few years

My '99 does the same thing. If I rev out to anything beyond 4.5k I can almost always expect my clutch to hangup exactly like yours does. I pull the pedal up with the tip of my foot, pump it 5 or 10 times, and I'm good. Generally speaking. If I drive like a grandpa I never have an issue, if I drive it like a camaro, I have issues. Double clutching + rev matching has seemed to help in my case, but your mileage may vary. I've lived with it since last January and I'm replacing my master cyl. , slave cyl, clutch (and pressure plate), as well as my transmission in the next month and a half so I'm not worrying too much about it. Definitely a pain in the *** though

agreed. My car has 85k on it and the clutch was replaced in around 80k, which is the weird part. I did bring the rpms up to about 4k a few days before the issue, but it drove and shifted fine until the issue- which was about 40 miles after said 4k shift. I think I’ll try to change the clutch fluid. Maybe with a bit of luck that’ll help.

From what I've gathered, you've got to keep your fluid REAL clean, if that doesn't do it, the master cylinder fix could help ( though I'd probably replace it entirely with a tick performance one), it doesn't appear that the same solution fixes the issue for everyone. So whatever does it for you, be sure to document it to help others!
