you need to confirm the components (seals) of hydraulic system is compatible with the fluid.
I have used Valvoline synthetic DOT3 fluid in my new McLeod hydraulics for several years now without issue.

valvoline synthetic DOT 3/4 gets recommended a lot for its decent boiling point but superior lubricity. i think Tilton specifically calls for this fluid to be used with their hydraulics.
i've used RBF600 with no issues though.

The (temporary) improvement probably had more to do with having fresh fluid and having bled the system than which fluid was used.
If I had to guess, I'd say you have a leak somewhere where air is getting into the system. Could be the slave (likely), the master (less likely) or the lines. If the lines were leaking you probably have visible signs of wetness along the lines.

Yes it’s a related issue. High temp fluids are much harder on seals and will shorten the life dramatically. Stick with the Valvoline dot3/4 mentioned here. If you’re having a temp issue, work on shielding the line rather than a high temp fluid.

I've used Wilwood EXP 600 brake fluid in my clutch systems exclusively for a decade and a half and nothing has ever leaked, never had a seal go bad in the system of two different cars. I also use it as a brake fluid, same experience.
