Default T56 trans movement?

Just picked up a ‘02 Camaro with 5k miles, when driving it and I hit bumps in the road the shifter seems to move a round a lot, car is mint all stock except for tires. Did a search and read about transmission mount, will check it but would it be possible it just deteriorated from time and needs to be replaced? Thanks for any info.

It shouldn't shake too much.

If the mount is trashed the T56 will be all over the place. Crawl under and look.

Replaced the trans mount, the old one seemed the same as the new one. Haven’t driven it with the new one so will see if it made any difference in the next few days. Pics of the old one I took off.

The Energy Suspension polyurethane transmission mount is a stout piece but the bolts they supply you with are too short. When that thing wears out you'll know it because your transmission will smack the transmission tunnel on hard launches.

That is NOT the Transmission Mount, that is the one for the Torque Arm.

The Transmission Mount is under the Tailshaft Housing with two bolts that hold it and one bolt that comes through the Transmission Crossmember.

Might want to do some simple reading on what the components of these cars are.

Hate to break it to you sir but that is 100% the stock transmission mount. The threaded portion is a through bolt that goes through the transmission cross-member and is secured by a nut.

I guess I've seen the upgraded stuff on cars.

I didn’t quote you again which I probably should have so my previous post would've made more sense.

Nice job! Lol

Don't take it the wrong way, I have a lot of respect for you and your knowledge in the automotive industry.

Lol..I don't have enough time to work on my own stuff let alone anyone else's. Answer me this guy. Do you always have to come across as a smart *** or is that just your uncanny personality? Not that I give two f's one way or the other but if you ask me you need to work on your people skills.

Why ask the question if you don't give a ****.

You said it though, and no one asked you for your input.

Let's chill with the banter then, I've had a long day of looking at all kinds of parts and numbers and every other damn thing under the sun.

I can get spicy I don't want to go there.

Guy is trying to fix his car so hopefully he can figure it out

Lol, perhaps it is just normal amount of movement, maybe just the combination of it being a convertible and looser than other LS manual cars I have. Thanks.

With the torque arm attached to the transmission you give it the throttle it's going to push the shifter up. I've preferred the Torque Arm Relocation Kits for that main reason.
