Which clutch should i get????
hey guys. i just bought my Camaro 2 week ago and i'm not real sure on the history on the clutch. so when my slave cylinder went out two days ago i decided to go ahead and buy a clutch. i'm looking at the ones from jegs. i know they prob aren't the best ones but i get a 20% off of them from working at Advance and after spending all my money on getting the car i don't have any left to get a really good one. my question is will a 11" dia and 1 1/8" X 26 spline fit my car. there's a centerforce in jegs that is that diminsion and says for the ls1 fbodies and corvettes and then theres another with the same diminsions on the Zoom page but it doesn't say it's for them. will there be a diffrence between them???? the part number of the one i'm looking at from Zoom is mu55051a. shouldn't these two be the same clutch?

There's no way I'd put a generic $100 clutch in my car, IMO... why not just go with a Z06 clutch kit from SDPC then? It's OEM quality, not as expensive as the aftermarket clutches...
Heck, check out the parts for sale section here and see if anyone's selling a low miles used clutch for cheap...

If all else fails, try searching here for the Zoom clutch to see if anyone else used one and whether or not it fits... but from just looking at the listings, I'd say no, it isn't a clutch that is to be used with an LS1 F-body.
Good luck with that if that's the way you go...

It's all good, man... Anyhow, I just bought a McLeod single disc. The entire setup cost me less than $700 on special shipped. This included the clutch disk, pressure plate, master cylinder and a new flywheel.
If you are looking at the RAM clutches, look at their Powergrip series... the Powergrip Stage 3 is a very affordable clutch that's supposed to work with the stock '01+ hydraulics.

they are a sponser of this site and will get you a killer deal on a z06 clutch kit. i think like 320$ish? i plan on getting this when my clutch craps out if i dont have many big mods. that clutch should hold up for you very well as long as you dont do any huge mods or spray or anything like that. that site sells OEM parts, so you know the quality is going to be good. plus you have the 4.10 gears so it should be way easier on the clutch.

If money is an issue, go with the Z06 clutch. Comes with the new flywheel and everything for $300ish. It held up fine on my 98 T/A with a Hotcam, I'm sure it will be fine in your car.

Z06 clutch kit here as well. It's been holding up fine with 5 trips to the dragstrip in the past couple months. (trying to get 11's)
Also your new slave cylinder will come with a throwout bearing installed on it. Atleast the one I got at SDPC did. Make sure you get a slave from a 01-02. Price should be in the $320.-$330 range for clutch like they said. Good luck.

only prob i had with centerforce was that it took 2 years to figure out i had to change/update my slave/master............
after that.
3k drops at track many times per year, still have it after 3 years daily driven
put over 30k on clutch.
305/325
13.4 @ 106
consistantly.
smooth engagement, no chatter at all, fels stock, ok maybe a lil heavy, holds like hell, never slips. cant wait to grenade it with a cam soon though!!!!!!!!1

LT1 clutch?
hey im in the same boat. Except I just bought a LT1 and the clutch went out. Is there a deal with the flywheel and master/slave cylinder and clutch for my LT1? I was thinking of a Ram clutch as well? i guess its a good idea to replace the master/slave cylinder at the same time? whichever one i need?

save your money and get one worth wild unless your to willing to throw anyway $300-400 . and if your mech. has a problem w/ that .take your business else where almost any trans shop can swap a clutch
