Default Anyone have RAM Powergrip Level3 clutch?

I am planning on getting one for my 99 WS6. I was wondering if anyone has one or knows anyone that has one and what they think of them. Do they hold up, chatter, ect?

Aslo what is the best price you have seen them for. So far the best i found was 375 shipped to my door.

Yep, I have one...had it for about 12k miles so far. For the first couple thousand miles, it chattered a bit, but could be controlled. I launched it a couple of times on the street, and it took care of the chattering. It can still chatter a bit if you don't drive it right (my g/f can get it to chatter), but it isn't bad at all. My car is a daily driver, so I've learned to live with it, and I don't mind it at all.

Clutch pedal is heavier than stock, but I got used to it in a month. My g/f complained, but she got used to it pretty fast.

My car is bolt-ons only, so it has held up without issue. When I installed it, I used:

New '02 slave (just to be safe)
Stock master w/ NO drill mod
Ram Billet Steel flywheel
New GM pilot bearing (not included in kit)

I would recommend this clutch to anyone looking to upgrade. I'll have to see how durable it is on my daily driver, but so far, so good. Now if I can just keep my g/f from slipping it all the time...luckily, she doesn't drive it much. It made my shifts much, MUCH better. I haven't missed 3rd since I got this clutch.

What would I need to get with the clutch? I planned on having the flywheel shaved.

You'll need a new pilot bearing...if you want to go the cheap route, that is all you will need. Since you have a '99, I would recommend getting an '01-'02 slave since they were better pieces. To me, a new slave would be considered a necessity, but I like to be safe than sorry. You will already be in there to replace it...if your stock slave goes bad, you'll have to drop the tranny again. A buddy's with a '98 SS tried putting in a Spec Stage II with his stock slave, and it blew in about 200 miles. Back to the shop he went.

That is really all you'll need. Ram will recommend a billet steel flywheel if you plan on racing it much. The resurfaced stocker would work though.

You don't do the drill mod to the slave...if you do it, you do it to the master. I didn't do it, and my clutch works just fine. You will need a new pilot bearing, but just go to your local GM dealer parts department to get it. If you search around on here, there is a part number floating around. You can get an upgraded slave through them too, but I don't know if it is any cheaper than going through a sponsor.

A lot of people will push them, but on my setup, it wasn't needed at all, granted I have an '02. Clutch engagement is right where the stocker was...it started out low, but came up over the course of the first 2000 miles.

alright, i have a thought, being that i have a 99, i'm assuming an upgrade to the 01 slave is necessary, if i get the powergrip hd and upgraded slave and then do the drill mod, stock master cylinder, can i ruin the clutch or worst case i just ruin the master and then i can purchase an adjustable?

I was told from a friend who knows a lot about this that I should upgrade the master, slave and the Pilot with 2002 parts. While it is apart to do the drill mod as well. He said all that along with the RAM stage 3 and I should be fine. I am a little disapointed considering it is going to cost about $200 more than I planned now. so $375(clutch)+200(Hydrolic parts)+$225(labor)=800 American U.S. dollars.

As an FYI make sure the kit is shipped in a box within a box, wherever you get it from. If it's shipped only in the kit box it stands a good chance of having the pressure plate bent during shipping. If it's shipped like this make sure to check the pressure plate. Don't ask me how I know...
