Do it! I had to buy a $250 input shaft because the previous owner didn't replace the pilot bearing when he changed the clutch. The needle bearings had fallen apart and chewed up the end of the input shaft.

I'd get a new bearing or bushing. I went with a bushing. Borrow a blind hole puller from Autozone to remove the old one.

Same thing I did. After losing the last bearing and eating up an input shaft, I knew the bushing was the way to go.

Or if you have a 10mm nutdriver and some grease or wet toilet paper around...that method works awesome IMO...

Don't use this approch as there is a freeze plug in the end of the crank and you could bust it, Otherwise this method does work on most vehicles. Just rent a blind hole puller from the zone..

The bushing is simply the same thing without the needle bearings inside. You can pick this up from most any GM dealership for $15 give or take a few $100 depending on which dealership you go to

That's the one. Replace it EVERY time you change a clutch, and you'll never have problems. I've had at least 5 clutches in my car, and I always put in a new pilot bearing.

Quick Reply: change the pilot bearing???
