Default Changed Fluid - Bloody diarrhea?!

Got the new T/A Home yesterday and went to work on it rght away...

Changed all the fluids, plugs, PCV, Thermo, and other maintenance stuff.

The Tranny fluid was the worst though. The car has 117,xxx miles... and the tranny fluid wasn't changed once (or if it was, it was definetly over 100K ago...).

Oh man.

This stuff looked and smelled like burning feces. It was disgusting. The color itself is hard to describe... it was like a dark black with a tint of red maple. I didn't bother taking pics as it was absorbing the surrounding light.

Good news is there where no filings or grains in the oil. It was just really badly burned. The car drove amazing even with the crap oil in it too... it was just a little notchy downshifting from 4th to 3rd. (Note: I beat the living crap out of this car on the test drives... the dealership 'entrusted' us with the vehicle for more then 2hrs at a time... you can do a lot of 'test driving' it 2hrs )

Now that the fluid has been changed hopefully that notch/grind will go away.

Point of Thread: The stock T56 is Badass.

Ya. It was disgusting.

I am doing the Rear Diff. Fluid tonight... which I somehow also doubt has ever been changed.

What is that supposed to look like? lol

Amazing isn't it, what a hundred thousand miles will do to lubricants? Try letting some air out of the tires & let us know if that smells nasty....

Good luck with changing out the differential fluid.... that stuff smells lovely

I took the cover off the rear of my '93 T/A last summer. The car has sat for a few years and it's doubtful the fluid had ever been changed before. Some of the worst smelling stuff I have experienced in a long time!

Yeah wear gloves atleast for changin the diff fluid, I'm not the kind of guy who ever wear gloves unless i'm working on something really hot, but when I worked at a dealership as a mechanic, my girlfriend (who i'm still with) always knew when I was doin rear end work..... (on the cars)
