Default Missed a 2 to 3 shift...Bad synchro now?!?

I was up around 6k rpms when i missed. It all sounded pretty nasty, i really hate doing that and it always makes me cringe. Anyway, now when im just driving easy, shifting into 3rd, i feel like i have to go easy on it even more so, just to get the shifter to stay in its place and not pop out of the 3rd gear. When it does go into 3rd, w/ out a problem, it still doesnt feel the same as it used to, seems like the clutch needs to be feathered on up to get it to grip on 3rd or something.
I cant truely explain it exact, but at least i know the gears and tranny are ok. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

What would the problem be here, because im thinking of taking it to the dealership and just telling them "it pops out of 3rd" and "fix it". Im thinking it will be warranty work. (that hopefully will not take long)

How's about a little help here...

Thanks,
Jesse

You may have bent or damaged the fork... which is what is more likely to allow it to pop out of 3rd. The T56 id famous for allowing 3rd gear release if the fork is anything but perfect. A good thing though is that I think GM knows this and you may be able to get it repaired on warrantee if you have a really good dealer around there and you can sorta disguise your car as mostly stock. Some cars (like my previous 97 TA) started popping out of third after awhile and Im pretty sure that GM footed the bill on mine.

GMCZ, I think F1 means the problem with shift fork is only recognized until 1998 by factory.
You do have a shift fork, and if you have less than 36,000 miles you should still have dealer repair your trans problem. Good luck.

Thats good news...how long did the dealership have your car. I know this will vary from dealership to dealership...
