Default Baddest manual tranny for a street monster car.....?????

Title says it all.

HP/TQ you ask??? Lets say 1,000 RWHP. What will handle that with NO problem at all? Races from a roll only.

Car: WS6

Thanks.

http://www.rocklandstandardgear.com/...iles/frame.htm

They have a T56 in there that they claim can take 750+ HP

D&D seems to be a popular place.

So when a tranny builder lists torque ratings for a tranny, are they talking a hard launch? Or what?

Because hitting it from a roll I would assume that rating can go way up.

In the past, I have spoken to the folks at Keisler Trans.
I was told that torque ratings are for the tranny in top gear.
Since the trans can handle more torque in the lower gears, this means a trans rated for 750 ftlbs should be able to handle quite a bit more in 1st thru 4th, where most roll races will occur.

THE baddest *** manual tranny for the street is a Lenco ST1200. Are you talking T56 here?

I'm talking anything, any brand, any type, that will fit into an F-Body perfectly without any wacky modding to the car itself. Buy it and install it.

A beefed up muncie m22 could take some punishment not sure how much or anything but it was enough to back the baddest cars from the 60's and 70's.

A T-56 in stock form is stronger than a stock M22.

That won't fit into an F-bod without hacking and sawzalling. Besides, custom fabbed bellhousing/scatter shield and probably at least a 2 disk clutch to make it work. Bad ***, yes, expensive, yeah. Is there anyone that makes straight cut gears for a t56 box? Just scrap the synchros and flat shift it.

The T56 is a pretty stout piece . We offer a unit rated well into the 750 + trq but would probably handle a 1000 hp as long as its not from a hard nitrous hit . Superchraged or turbo doesn't hit as hard and is easier on the drivetrain .

Not cheap. But easy....YES.

For these people anyway, try 1,360 RWHP (approximately) from an engine that will fit into an F-Body and is MUCH more reliable and MUCH stronger than any LSx based engine.

Mine that Ellis built is rated at 800 ftlbs of tq. It's a T-56 with the Viper/Z-06 gearset for 5th and 6th.
