I was wondering how long it took you guys to remove your t56 from your cars at home. Also how hard was it for you to do so.

thanks guys. My trans is making a noise like somebody thru some metal in it. Lots of clunking. The trans still shifted fine and I drove about two miles back to my house going like ten mph. Just wondering if anybody has experenced this before. I did it by dumping the clutch in first going about five miles an hour then all hell broke loose.

Yeah I'd say about 2 hours, by myself just using ramps in the back, stands in the front, and a pair of floor jacks at each end of the transmission. Not terribly bad at all. Two tough trans-to-bellhousing bolts to get at - get a ~2' extension and go from behind the trans to remove them.

Basically there is alot of vibration in the trans. I know its not the gears cause i've broken those too and it doesn't feel the same. I would say it sounds like metal and a whinning noise and vibration in the trans. The trans was having problems shifting anyways. I couldn't even race the car anymore. If you think you might know what it could be let me know. I really don't have any real performance mods either so its not like my car has tons of power.

First time I took mine out, me and a buddy and it took about 1 1/2 hours, no life or power tools. Put the car on 4 jack stands and went to work.
Second Time we did it, he had went back to school so we used the schools lift and his power tools, took our time and had it out in 40 minutes. We were in a hurry to put it back in before 4:30 (Shop closing time) and we started at 3:59, but had it rolling out the door at 4:30, we were hauling some major ***.
No real "special" tools you will need, a tranny jack will make it easier for you though. You will need alot of extensions and a swivel to get one of the bellhousing bolts off, when you get to this point, youll know exactly which one im talking about. If you cant get it with the plain swivel socket, try and put some tape around it to where it can still bend, but doesnt have quite as much play. Its not hard at all, anyone with decent mechanical knowledge could get it out. Good Luck......

Took me three hours to remove my first time from when the car was on jacks to rolling the tranny out from under the car. I removed the shifter too which took some time. I used a floor jack to drop the tranny.
