Default Will changing my fluid help ?

Will changing my tranny fluid help make my m6 easier to shift it just feel's kinda stiff and i can feel it go into gear. My friends 99 z28 and a bunch of other friends ls1's they shift like butter.

Also going into reverse is a PITA.
On my service manual it says that the tranny fluid was changed before but i just wonder if they put the wrong fluid in,
Any advice ?

If it's been cold where you live lately, the gears may be stiff when cold, take it easy and don't try to shift too fast or hard while the trans warms up. Changing the fluid helps a little with cold-start stiffness, but not much. I'd only expect changing the fluid to help the shifting a lot if the current fluid happends to be really old or the wrong type.

It might be the hydraulics if it's always hesitant going into gear. Does the pedal feel mushy? When going to reverse, with the clutch disengaged, I always go to 4th real quick and then to reverse. It engages easy every time.

I do agree w/ the hyrdaulic theory, but next time that you change you fluid, put 30 weight oil in it. Make sure it has no detergents in the oil. I have fun 30w in my tranny since I have had it and it kills most of the sounds and help shifting out tremendouly

Yeah the clutch is fully disengaged i went to a transmission shop and he told me that it is suppose to be smooth with the car off and when it is on, he also said that he had no idae what it could be.
Is it true that since it feels the same even when the car is off that it has nothing to do with hydrolics ?
Somone told me that when you're driving the car if you put your foot on the clutch pedal and barely push it in if you feel it kinda grinding then that means somthings wrong with it ?

Anyone have any idea on what it would be, id just like for it to go into gear smoothly.
