Well it can take alot to get them out.
Sounds like you broke the slider keys in the 3/4 syncro though.
Trans has to come out for the repair.

Unfortunately you have to take it out and get a rebuild. This happend to me and happend to have more damage in my tranny than I expected!

Look to spend about 1000-1500 for parts and labor. Or you can just buy a rebuilt one from speed inc. or t56rebuilds for about the same, but with upgraded parts.

You might get lucky. I did billet slider keys so it wouldn't happen again ,steel 3/4 shiftfork and carbon fiber blocker rings. I know a guy that works at a tranny shop so I got it done for $100 bucks plus parts. You might want to find a local tranny shop and see if any body that works there does side work. No matter what the tranny has to come out, if you manage to get it out of gear it will happen again and the longer you drive it the more parts you will have to replace. Make sure when you get it done to order a set of billet slider keys. G-force trans. sells them and if you do a search on slider keys you might some others that sell them.

I just rebuilt mine last week. Very easy to do if you have access to a press and bearing separater

Same thing happened to me. Evidently the sliders are made out of pot metal or something cheap. It ended up finally coming out of gear and I was able to drive home, which was roughly 50 miles. I yanked the tranny and sent it in to find out that the slider broke, toke out the synchro assembly and wiped out 3rd and 5th gear. Don't drive it any more then you have to.

If you wanted to save a little cash you could find a tranny from a wrecked LS1...then when you have the monies repair yours and beef it up.

Mine did the same thing but was stuck in N. When my Father and I tore it down nothing was out of place or the like. We threw in new parts and it's been bread and butter since. I found out you don't need to shift hard to make a fast shift.
