Default ??Centerforce Clutch?? Good or Bad??

I want to buy a new clutch 4 my camaro but dont have a lot of $mullata$ and I have seen that the Centerforce Clutch is the cheapest in the Aftermarket department. But there are 3 different types DF395010, DF017010, and the 01017010. Which is best??? Are they good for drag racing/heavy dumpin??

Best clutchs are Mcleod then Spec then Centerforce then what ever pos is after that.
I have friends with centerforce clutchs with no complaints

I like the way you state that with facts to back it up.
Mcleod and Spec seem to get the worst reviews around here. Ram and Textralia seem to get the higher ratings.
I have had a SPEC and I have had a Centerforce, and the Spec seemed to have more holding power. I would recommend a Ram clutch before anything now.

The DF017010 is rated for nitrous use and can hold about 450rwhp supposedly. Mine slips for what it is worth.

I have never heard of Textralia. I also don't know of any Ram clutch that could hold the kind of power a Spec or Mcleod can, thats why I rated them that way.

Never heard of Textralia? Do you not read the boards at all? Ram makes several clutches that will hold just about any horsepower level you throw at it. You need to do alittle more research before you come here giving advice.

Speaking from experience.. I had a center force, and have switched to SPEC 3+.

Last week, I removed my chatterbox, Center Force dual friction. Now it was OK when 1st installed (about 10k miles ago). Then soon developed chatter, vibrations, and was the cause of my 3rd gear poping out.

Thinking it was a trans issue, (that and I wanted to upgrade my trans) I had my trans completely rebuilt by T56rebuilds(who are just AWESOME by the way).. put the rebuilt trans back in, still using the center force clutch... still same symptoms.

Sent the trans back to Amber to make sure there was nothing wrong with the trans.. checked out OK, she then said a lot of people have been having issues with the CF clutches.. So i bought a SPEC 3+.. installed it and a new GM flywheel... wow, what a difference. no chatter, grabs fast, very streetable. 1300 miles (about 900 highway, 400 street) on the clutch now and its just awesome to drive.

hope this helps

The Centerforce clutches are known to have shifting issues above 5500rpm. This problem comes from the weights on the fingers applying too much pressure for the hydraulic clutch system to handle. I have no complaints to the drivability of the CFDF 12" but you most likely will have to have a Mcleod Master cyl to make it work properly.

Centerforcer refuses to acknowlage this probem.

As a general guideline I would say that 400rwtq is about the most I would expect a centerforce to hold. Not a bad clutch for a bolt-ons car, but useless for any serious power or slicks.
