Default FYI: Spec 5 Shim

i have the spec 5 with spec billet flywheel. i installed this clutch with the supplied shim. ran great for a couple thou miles. now, the night before my scheduled dyno its slipping like a ******* ***** under big loads. the pedal has also let off as well.

just a forewarning, make sure you ACTUALLY NEED the spacer before you install it, cuz it is causing my 1200lb/ft iron disk to slip......

son of a bitch

how do you know if you need it or not, I put the stage 5 in mine and now its sliping, just a few thousand miles latter. I just thought I screwed up by not putting the slave master cylinder

did u put the shim in? the shim may cause the pressure plate to not fully engage the clutch......your last sentence does not make sense btw

Here is an idea.

If you just replaced the throwout bearing it probly has the old shim stuck in the slave from the old TO bearing. It is a small shim but it will space out the TO bearing about 1/8".

I had 1 car that had 4 of them stuck in there. We put a new clutch in and it wouldn't engage at all.?Removed the shims and it worked great.

Not to be a nit picky grammar kind of poster, but. . the slave and master cyl are two different things. The adjustable master is what connects to the pedal, the slave is mounted on the tranny. Just wanted to correct you before you go to a car meet or something and get ragged on.
