Default adapting lt1 t56 to ls1

can you adapt an lt1 t56 to an ls1? what would that require?

i think you need of cource clutch kit to start with. also bellhousing, flywheel, slave and so on.

those just guess, i have never done one, if anything is incorrect, forgive me!!

It can be done, but would cost you more money than it would be worth. The LT1's input shaft has a 2" difference from an LS1's input shaft. So with that alone you gotta go in and start replacing internals to make it work. Not to mention that the later T-56 is just stronger anyway.

all you gotta do is swap the input shaft and front plate, then use the coresponding parts LT1 stuff with an lt1 tranny and so on

i am actually doing this right now. i am just changing the input, front plate, then putting a new bearing and front seal in there since i am there already

Why can't you just use a Mcleod bellhousing and not change anything?

I think most will agree the older 93-97 Borg-Warner T56s' are stronger than current.

That collection of "most" would be mis informed. I think there is a group of people who think the LT1 units were better because of their problems with the clutch release system and the associated transmission carnage that comes from poor clutch release. This is hardly evidence of strength difference. The "upgrade" parts most pursue come from Tremec not Borg Warner . I think that alone is reason to pursue a Tremec box.
