Tranny wont go in gear...Master Cylinder??
I just got my tranny rebuilt less than 3,000 miles ago. At first, it use to do this for about a week or so, and than it went away for atleast a month...now its back but worse. It wont go in gear when the car is on. And if it does, its really hard(3,4,5th are hard...Reverse grinds) and it just wont go in 1st or 2nd. (i only push it to a certain limit, im sure i can get it in there, but im not gonna put all that force on it) I just changed my slave cylinder thinking that was the problem......And it still does the same thing!?? My master cylinder leaks a little...but that doesn't have anything to do with my problem, right??? I need help guys!!
Thanks
Thanks

If the master is leaking, then it's probably sucking air into the system...
Have you tried bleeding the system again?

i couldnt find the bleeder screw. but i just read the FAQ's, and i think i might know how to do it. We tried to manually bleed it, but it didnt work. Is the bleeder, the thing that looks like a hose ontop of the tranny??

Um, your sig pic is confusing me....
Do you have an LS1 or LT1?
If an LS1, the bleeder valve is right above the hydraulic line in the bellhousing (can't really see it, so you'll have to feel for it)
If LT1, you should be able to see the bleeder valve on the slave....
As for the hose leading to the top of the trans, that's for venting trans fluid....

OK, LT1
If it's an aftermarket slave, it should have a bleeder valve at the end and you can bleed it normally using the buddy system....
If it's the factory slave, then it won't have a bleed screw (you can thank your genius GM techs for that one lol)
If that's the case, then you'll need to fill the master and leave the cap off, then pump the piston/plunger in and out fully by hand until all of the air is forced back out through the master...
Usually takes about 20 or 30 pumps
Note: It helps if you can remove the slave and hold it higher than the master while doing this, but it's not necessary....

OK. so i bled it.....still nothing. wont go in any gear except 3,4 (pushing hard). If i take the car off, put in first gear, start it up and drive...it will drive. BUT the clutch only has to come up about an inch, maybe less....than it will grab..???? Any ideaas? It picks up reallly low to the ground, and wont go in gear when its on?

Still sounds like air in the system not causing the clutch to disengage completely...
If bleeding didn't help and the master is visibly leaking, I'd go with a new master and measure the throw of the slave to make sure it's working properly before rowing through the gears....

What do you mean you got the brake master mixed up with the clutch one
Which one is leaking?
It's possible the fork might not be installed correctly....
You need to make sure it's snapped in properly and that the bolts are tight....

When i said my master cylinder leaks....i forgot it was the brake one. I put in a new GM slave and master. they came together. The brake one is leaking. (I dont think it has anything to do with it, though) The fork is installed right, i took off the slave, and made sure. I guess i'll just go drop the tranny, look at the fork, and check the bolts now..
