LS7 Experience; Good or Bad?
This poll is to simply try and get an idea of the actual ratio of Good to Bad LS7 experiences.

First time I've ever done a clutch change. I asked a lot of questions, did a lot of research long before I took the plunge and did it myself.
When I did my change, I also changed the slave to an 01/02 slave and changed the pilot bearing (although it looked practically brand new, I changed it out of caution). I also had to cut it out as it was stuck in there pretty well. I also switched to ARP flywheel bolts, reused the pressure plate bolts.
Things that I made notes on after reading a lot of threads:
red locktite on the flywheel bolts
blue locktite on the pressure plate bolts
with the bleeder cracked a little and the hydraulic line disconnected the transmission goes in smoothly
a clutch alignment tool made from an input shaft makes things easier
two people bleeding the clutch like brakes seems to work the best for a bleed
the ls7 clutch engages very low at the beginning and moves up with use
the ls7 clutch feels tougher on the clutch leg than the stocker for the first few hundred miles (I had my leg cramp on me in stop n go traffic )
you have to baby the damn thing for awhile before you can get on it
the added weight makes your stock ls1 rev noticably slower (fix it with mods!)
after almost 8k on the clutch I am happy to report it's been great and am looking forward to running it on track, a lot of roll runs in 1st to 5th and it's very strong still yet it "feels" like stock.

PM sent Jeckel.
As for weights, here is what the GM software says:
LS7 Pressure Plate and Disc: 30.75lbs
LS7 Flywheel: 26.46lbs
That might be package weight, so don't make/break your current plans based on those. But they should be close enough to get an idea for you

i did the LS7 clutch as well as the 02 slave. The clutch is GREAT! My hydraulics still suck. But it is NOTHING of the clutch's fault. Need to get the Mcleoud adj. master and do the drill mod. But I still pulled a 1.86 60' on street tires with 100% stock suspension and its holding down 396rwhp just fine. It should though, the LS7 makes alot more than that. I am just wondering how it will handle when I spray and put down 525ish to the wheels. but I'll let you know. Overall 5 stars.

I just put in my ls7 clutch this saturday along with the drill mod. I highly suggest you do the drill mod while doing the clutch swap. Like everyone has said at first it engauges low and works its way up. I noticed this morning I guess since it was pretty cold it engauged extra low but soon came back up some. Feels almost like stock, no chatter or jerky engaugement. Also as SladeX said it does rev noticably slower because of the heavier flywheel, but hey helps with harder launches and gear shifts. These are the parts that are NEEDED with GM part numbers...
12571611 - LS2 flywheel
15046288 - Upgraded slave cylinder for older models
24238412 - LS7 clutch and pressure plate
14061685 - Pilot bearing

I have the LS7 clutch in my car. Replaced all the hydraulics and did the drill mod and bleeder extension when it all went in last May. No issues with the set-up and it has been surviving DD duty with my current set-up since last Sept. Drove it to the track, made 5 passes and drove home with no issues. I DD it to work and take it on roadtrips. Never had a problem.

I got the LS7 kit installed with new master and updated slave. Worked awesome for the first 12,000 miles but now I'm having disengagment problems after any two consecutive gear WOT. I have DOT4 fluid and regularly change the fluid. At first I thought this was a hydraulic issue, but now I'm learning that many people that have the LS7 clutch are describing the exact same issues I'm having after about 10k miles. They're saying it's an issue with the pressure plate at high RPMs. I've read several threads on this at Z06vette forum and corvette forum about this. Even though my hydraulics are new, I think that they still could be the problem.....

For those of you with weight questions etc, do a search for everything you need to know about ls7 clutch. A member already compiled all the weights for the different flywheel combos ls1vsls7vsfidanza with the ls1/ls6/ls7 clutches. Pretty informative.

i got the ls7 put in about 5 or 6k ago and its holding up pretty nicely. we shall see about longevity though. i only paid 400 for the clutch kit with flywheel and something else, i forgot, lol. but i went through sdpc and was delivered pretty quickly. id suggest that

I just got my car back since having an LS7 clutch installed. I also had a new slave and master cylinder put it. It feels great so far. But then again, I just got the car back today.

with bolt ons a 9" with a true track and e/t streets i tried to dump the clutch at 6200. well it sliped. i let it cool down for a while then ran a pb of a 12.4
went back to the track a few months later with a torquer 2 cam on street tires and got a best of 12.5 at 116 with a 2.057 60ft
went back with the e/t streets and back to some 4500rpm launch 1.806, 1.783. then i went to a 5,000rpm dump and got a 1.734, 1.726 and a 1.693.
