Default Clutch Chatter - Ram Powergrip H.D.

My car has a ram powergrip h.d. in it, and was installed about 3,000 miles ago. If I don't pick up the rpm's alot in first it still chatters alot. Is this normal?

I had a Ram Powergrip, and it chattered for its entire existence (it could be avoided with fancy footwork though). Some do it more than others...

I have the same thing going on with my power grip level 3 but its not fully broken in yet. The instructions state that it will chatter and that a higher numericly gear ratio reduces it. I have 280 miles on it and it seems a tad better then when I first drove it I guess I'll find out in a couple more miles.

Mine has and still does since the day I put it in. 4.10's dont help make it easier to drive. Like said it takes fancy footwork to make it smooth

I also have one. I don't think it gets easier, I think people just get used to driving it in a way to avoid chatter.

That's been my experience - I was able to teach my girlfriend to avoid it on my Ram setup as well as the RPS I have now - the RPS doesn't chatter as much as the Ram did though.

Ok good. I was just making sure that I wasn't experiencing anything out of the ordinary. With some good foot work the chattering is not a problme. Just makes me sound like I',m trying to show off when I use so many rpms to get rolling.

Well I have a couple more miles on it now I just rolled a lil over 400 and it seems its almost gone for me now. How did you guys break it in? I mean were you ripping on it during the first 500 miles or what. I've been babying mine and it seems alot smoother every day.

Yea, Powergrip HD's don't require any break-in. If you call the RAM guys they'll tell you you can put it in, drive to the track and dump it at 6k on slicks.

I've got a Powergrip HD and it's been in for about 3000 miles and it still chatters pretty bad if I'm lazy and don't work it like I should. If I give it a little effort it's just as smooth as the stocker. It's kinda crappy in traffic though, because it does require you to stay on top of your clutch everytime you go from a stop.

Yea, with 3.90's I'm going up to about 1800 from a stop. The RAM guys told me that a 3.90 is still a somewhat long gear for a Powergrip HD, and that the clutch may be a little overkill. Oh well, gets everybody's attention with the cutout open

mine dosen't chatter at all but i have a good feeling that it will not last very long at all, the car has terrible viberations from the clutch and the car just shakes when i start out in first gear dont know what the problem is. I haven't had very good luck with this clutch i had the ls6 clutch in my car and loved how it was there was never any problems know my car feels horrible when i drive it, i think the tranny need a rebuild though or the hydrolics are shot

whew, thanks for the information guys. i just built an Ls1 Rx7 and got a used Ram HD clutch and flywheel with my transmission purchase(he said the clutch and flywheel had about 1000 miles on it) And when i take off, my car sometimes vibrates A Lot. i was afraid it was because of the way i installed it. i had thoughts of the flywheel working itself loose and exploding out of the bell housing.

I have 3.90 gears in mine. Also, i dont know if this is a Ram thing, or possibly the way i setup my clutch, but it catches at the VERY top when releasing. practically all they way out. anyone elses like this?
