Default T56 and a T56 Z06 gearing?

I was wondering if anybody has rebuilt a T56 out of an Fbody with the guts of a Z06 T56. The Gears are lower in the Z06 tranny, seems it would help get ours into the powerband quicker? Or is it even possible?

I don't think you can do it. Just add 4.10s. That will give you more gearing the ZO6 trans will.

well i work at dealership, and if i were to trash my T56 i was wondering if i could use the guts of a Z06-T56. I am gonna be using nitrous and i have heard to keep the stock gears cause the lower gears are weaker for the rearend.

I don't know if it can be done. I have never heard of it as of yet. Can you tune for the gears using LS1 Edit? I know you can tune for final drive gears but I don't know about trans gears.

Ravenous, have you priced or gotten the PNs for the gearset parts?

Is the non-Z06 C5 M6 a 2.66 / .50 trans? Do those parts carry the same PN as the 94-02 f-body parts?

I doubt it'll work. Seems like someone would have tried this by now? It would be nice if you had to rebuild the tranny anyway.

The speed sensor measures the output shaft speed and only needs the rearend ratio to figure out the rear wheel speed.

Z06 gears will NOT work in the f-body. The shafts that they ride on (input and output) are completely differant. However the 5th and 6th gear out of the '03 Cobra WILL work if you RR types are interested. I don't yet know what the cost would be, but I'm going to find out.

the 03 cobra only has like a .62 or .63 6th gear, and like a .80 5th.

Racehead, I would be very interested in this conversion. I contacted D&D about swapping the early T56 5&6 on and they said it wasn't possible. I would still keep my 2.66 first correct?
