Default pro 5.0 shifter, or B&M ripper?

I want to find a 2001 TA WS6 with a hurst 6 speed, but they are pretty hard to find. So, are the pro 5.0 shifter or b&m ripper, the same or similar? Will it give it that tight close ratio shift? Thanks for your responses guys!

-Also, I liked that idea of the short stick also, would that be possible on these setups? I also liked the 03 cobra shift know that was posted a couple weeks ago also, thanks!

I went with the pro 5.0 and cut a little bit of the shifter rod on the top off to make it shorter. I have absolutely no complaints. I also researched it for quite a while and found the majority of people who have had both shifters go with the 5.0. Quick, smooth, and precise shifts. Good luck

I had the Hurst in my SS. Bought the short stick for it and didnt really like it. It felt like I had to break thru a wall to get it in gear. So I bought a Pro 5.0. Its awesome. Its so much smoother and goes into gear like butter. My short stick should be sitting at the house right now. I've never had a B&M but I heard those dont recenter between 3rd and 4th when not in gear. Get a Pro 5.0. Its worth it. I wish I had done it as soon as I bought my car.

I too went from the Hurst to the Pro 5.0 and it is a night and day difference. No they are not comparible only cause the 5.0 is infinitely smoother and tighter shifting. You won't regret it.

I've driven cars with both shifters. The Ripper is a nice upgrade from the Hurst... but if you want a real "performance" feel look no further than the Pro 5.0

I love my 5.0 I wouldn't trade it for any other shifter. Its for sure its coming out if I sell or trade the car. Its rare to miss a shift with it.

I've used the pro5.0, kirban, hurst, 3 different B&M rippers, and stock+LS shortstick. . .

Best all around is the latest B&M with the one piece stick.

Kirban has the best 2-3 shift on the market.

my friend has a pro 5.0 and right now he has some serious issues with it. . . seems to be falling apart mechanically (you'd think the stick was loose from the base, but I DO KNOW this is a RARE occurence)

In any case, the current B&M w/ the one piece handle is by far the best IMO.

This question comes up every month it seems <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I love my Ripper and wouldn't trade it for anything. The Pro 5.0 is a good shifter as well, I just like the feel of the Ripper better. Others disagree.

You will be happy with either choice. If you get a chance and are worried about making the decision, find someone that has each close to you and try 'em out.

To answer your questions exactly:
-Both will give a "tight close ratio shift"
-You can use the short stick on the Pro 5.0, but not the Ripper.

BTW, don't worry about finding a car with the Hurst. I haven't heard of anyone that likes it more than the replacements!

I went with the ripper. Every one I knew had one and was happy with it. No complaints here, I love it. <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />
