T56 rebuild and RAM clutch upgrade.... so far so good
I just got finished tackling a rebuild of my T56 and upgraded from a Cartek to a RAM 910 VDS and McLeod master.
I finished fairly late yesterday, so only 50 miles so far. I'm babying the car right now, but I can tell that the new synchros have helped make normal shifting better.
As expected, the McLeod master with the drill mod makes for a stiffer pedal. Not a big deal, but could be a PIA in traffic.
As far as the RAM 910, it can DEFINATELY be slipped much better than the Cartek. I can also easily make it more on/off by letting it out quicker, but like I said, I'm taking it very easy on the clutch for at lest a 100 miles or more.
I'll post updates once I start hammering on it.
Gotta get back on the top 50 N/A list. I ain't got no excuses now... the car's ready and the weather is good.

Scotty G, glad to hear you like the RAM 910, we run that disc in our project car and it is awesome. Good luck on getting some good runs in.

Re: T56 rebuild and RAM clutch upgrade.... so far so good
I've got 300 miles on the setup now and made a couple of hard passes today.
The T56 rebuild seems to have done the trick. It ain't buttery smooth, but shifting is much improved.
As for the RAM VDS910/McLeod master....
This clutch holds really well to my N/A 420rwhp setup on 315 Nitto DR's on concrete, which is a fairly high grip situation. It may be a while before I get to a well-prepped track on slicks, and I need fuel tweaks before I can comment on nitrous holding ability.
Driveabilty is adequate, but it ain't no setup for the faint of heart. It CAN be slipped, but it's fairly finicky to get it to slip smoothly and consistently without grabbing or chattering. It wants to bite, and it's a little tough to consistently avoid sudden grabbing and lurching. My TR230 cam with it's surging ain't helping any.
Hydraulics seem to be working well. The stiffer pedal take a little getting used to. The initial takeoff/chatter/grabbing may get better once I get used to the pedal feel.
I have no problem tolerating these inconveniences, but just wanted y'all to be aware of what you get with this setup.
I want a clutch that can handle as brutal a launch that I can throw at it. So far, so good.

Good update! Now where the hell did you get the puller for the 5/6 driven gear?

When do you want to come dyno your beast?

I borrowed a long industrial 2-jaw puller from work (big refinery. It was nothing special, just had a nice long reach. It had a hydraulic actuator which was really cool.

I'm short on days off. Maybe I need to schedule a dentist appointment in B.R. That way I could call it medical leave! Even if I had some time off, I figured Thunder would is up to their ears with all the work getting ready for the TR shootout, so I'll definitely wait until that's come and gone. BTW, I LOVE the TR230 cam. I'll probably leave it in even if it makes less hp, just because it sounds so good
