Hi, I'm about to install a brand new GM clutch master on my 99 ls1 firebird M6. I wanted to know if i still have to bleed the clutch after i install it? The part is brand new with the fluid still inside. Please help!

Yes it needs to be bled, what makes you think it has fluid inside it already?

Yeah you need to bleed it. BTW new masters dont come with fluid in them.

I did a search and found several references to people buying masters already full of fluid.

Hey I've got a question not trying to hijack the thread. For the people who are installing new clutch/hydraulics... do you bench bleed it? I don't see any problem with bench bleeding since thats what these companies do. And yes I realize you can't do that with it in the car.

The clutch actuator (slave) and the line to it from the master connection are still full of old degraded clutch fluid.

It is prudent to bleed the hydraulics to ensure 100% of the fluid is clean, dry and back to nominal boiling point. Plus you want to be sure no air is in the system.

Bleed it. Cheap and easy insurance. Then keep it clean. Taking Care of Your Clutch

I bled mine after bench bleeding the master. I didn't get any air out of it, but I would still recommend bleeding it.

I bench bleed the master and then completely bleed the entire hydro system when its all installed.
