Is there any other manual tranny that bolts up to an ls1 motor and doesnt cost an arm and a leg ?
Or anybody make an adapter to mate a more affordalbe tranny to the LS motors?

The LS based engine shares the same basic bolt pattern except for one bolt being different . I know of several people that have used 4 spd Muncies and Super T10's behind the LS engines along with Tremecs or anything else that uses a basic Chevy bellhousing .

So I can use a t56 from an lt1 car ?
Could I use a 5 speed for a truck that had a 4.3 in it?

It's a fox body... I already have a ls1/a4 swap but I want a manual trans.

I'd suggest scratching the truck trans off the list . Your options are a 4 spd Muncie or Super T10 , a T56 from either a LS1 or LT1 , hybrid T5 with a GM front case and Mustang mainshaft and tailhousing , saginaw 3 or 4 speed , Tremec (TKO/3550/500/600) or just about any passenger car Gm transmission . You will need to figure out bellhousing issues and clutch issues .

So what would I need to do with the clutch ? I need to use an sbc disc and and ls1 pressure plate ?
Damn this is quite a headache... But I really want a stick. How much can I expect to pay for an ls1 t56? I havent found one for less than $1400 which is more than I paid for my complete ls1/a4 swap

I would use an LS1 pressure plate and matching disc as long as the transmission you choose has a 26 spline input shaft . As for prices of T56 units , I cannot quote you any prices because I am not a paid sponsor but I'd expect to pay $1400.00-$1800.00 for a built T56 without a core . You might get lucky and score a bellhousing with it but I would not count on it . The T56 is a very nice unit and there is a lot of people looking for them to use in older muscle cars and auto to stick conversions .
