Who has a SPEC stage 3+
And how long has it lasted you? mind you were not talking about the stage 3, we are talking about the stage 3+
I'm thinking of putting one in to replace my spec stage 2, with my fidanza billet steel flywheel.
anyone else have the same setup?

I have a 3+. Mine lasted around 10K and only died because I let a girl drive it when i was drunk once and she slipped the **** out of it and glazed the flywheel. You cant slip any aftermarket clutch like she did and expect it to live. Im talking about 3k slippage upon start and slipping it during shifts. Oh well.
Anyway I put another 3+ in and I like it just as much as I did the first one. Nice and streetable and holds the ~650 RWTQ with no problem. Nobody drives my car ever again.

12K and still holds on my bolt-ons Z28 like the day I bought it. Only been to track once for two passes. Driven hard on street. Car sees red more than once every day in first three gears. I've NEVER had ANY chatter or any other problems/issues. Stock-like drivability.
In short, it's perfect in every way and always has been. It's also by far and wide the most common aftermarket clutch for our cars. With the glazing problems I've read about with the LS7, there's no way I would chose it over the SPEC 3+.

I have had it in for about 10k and had problems with install at first- no shim provided, but after it got fixed all has been well. It has been taking 5k dumps at the track and still driving it home.
With our cars getting higher mileage I would replace the slave at the same time as I have been seeing people putting in clutches and having problems soon after- and the slave is the problem.

My brother's 3+ lasted 3,000 miles. We don't know if it was a fluke or what, but his Stage 3 died after 10k and my Stage 3 after 8k.
I know I was driving mine very poorly at first (slipping and riding it a lot since I had never had a manual car before and didn't know any better), but it still lasted 8K with that abuse, so we don't know why his 3+ only lasted 3,000. He is an ASE tech who worked at a Chevy dealership for quite some time, so I don't imagine it was his driving that did it. I know it's much more rare than most people think, but it may have been faulty from the factory. I believe he bought a Ram clutch to replace it, so we'll see how that goes. I know he's not happy with Spec.
I now have a Spec Stage 2 in mine and have learned how to drive (after a lot of research and practice BEFORE the new clutch) and I went with it because I was told it would hold my power and last a long time since it is a kevlar disc. I only put down 367 rwhp but the clutch gets a tad bit soft after getting on it a bit. I've bled it multiple times and it has not gone away. I need to call Spec about this.
Just thought you'd want the input.

I have had mine in for 20k at least. This was used when the car was stock launching at 6k with mt drag radials AND with H/C/n2o making 560 rwhp. I would buy another one for sure.

Oh wow, that's good to hear. I've heard a lot of people who have had problems but I'm glad to see they can last. It seems to be a hit or miss, not sure why people are having the pressure plate explode on them? Does spec really have that many defective ones, or is it due to install or driving?

I think all the clutch manufacturers have issues. You name it and someone on here is complaining about it.
I just did my swap and I put a Spec Stage 3+ in my car. So far so good. The only thing that's slipping now are my tires. I'm hoping it will hold my 500+rwhp.

I've had my Spec 3+/aluminum flywheel for 8k and no problems to report. I auto-x the car, dump it at 4500 at the track, dead hook and go.....No chatter. Good clutch. New slave at time of install, spacer installed, remote bleeder installed, McCleod Blowproof bell installed all at the same time.
I think some of the problems stem from guys installing the clutch and then not properly breaking them in. I called Spec and they recommended 600 to 800 of non-highway miles to properly seat the clutch assembly. That's a pretty tough thing to do, given the temptation to simply roll out the driveway and let it happen.
My 2 cents.
