I know, I know. I do miss REAL shifting too. But its tough to shift a manual when the clutch burns up every other month.

I ran the Exo-skel with 1000 rwhp and it slipped on me so I switched to the Spec twin disk stage 2 and it holds great and driveability is excellent.

I run 2 SPEC duals in friends cars. They are the carbon, hold very good and little to no chatter. To date they are the best clutch we've ever used for drivability and holding power. I car has had it 2 years holding 840hp/820tq on pretty much a DD car.Another has a blown 427ci Vette with probly 60 track passes and alot of street miles. Both of those cars bvlew almost every clutch out there and went through 2 clutches a year before these.

Sounds like the SPEC twin is the best out there.

Do the spec twins use stock master and slave?Do they require any shimming?
Do they have floater rattle when you push in the clutch?

I have a exoskel as you can see from my sig but only at 420 engine hp or so my turbos and new engine are not installed in my car yet. I was thinking of going to the triple tex maybe but also hearing from some guys that say it has /will hold the power and some like in this thread that say it didn't. The tex twin pedal pressure is fine, the rattling when clutch is pushed in is slightly annoying but of course it has to hold the power I need it to hold which should be around 1000rwhp max with turbos and some spray.Driveability is so so with the tex.Could be better. They offer some more street able discs but they also take even less power so not the best idea unless maybe in triple disc form.

Couple buddies have spec 3s. One has had his for quite a long time and is very happy with it and the other one just got his in and I drove it and it seemed pretty streetable. Not sure how much a spec 3 plus can really hold.

3+ is rated to around 850 Trq which is much more than the three and close, but not as high as the 5.

im running mcleod twin disk... it burnt up once but held the power fine after that. they have an upgrade that holds like 1500 or 1600hp/tq so that could be an option too.

My spec 5 is starting to act up. I'm debating on a new 5 or the twin. As cheap as the 5 is, I would try another one. I don't mind spending the cash for the twin as long as it would hold. Good info slowhawk, because mine is mostly street driven, not a DD though.

We installed on in an 01 SS and had the same problems as mentioned in the thread linked above. The actual measurement from the crank surface to the pp fingers when the pp was torqued down was roughly 1/4" more than the factory LS1 clutch. This caused the clutch to start slipping almost immediatly behind a 550 rwhp SS. The slave was actually bottoming out and actually riding the pp 1/8" at all times. This was on an LS1 car, not an LS2 for those that have read the other thread.

Spec did take care of the problem but they wouldn't pay the shipping for us to send back, much less our labor to install it twice. It seems to be working fine now.

The issues outlined in the linked post were related to differences in bearing depth (specifically in regards to those with GTO's or using GTO bearings). As a result we have updated the part numbers to reflect the parts needed. That being said we have had no other issues and the customers that had problems have been taken care of. Let me know if you all have any further questions. Thanks!!!
