About 4qts.

There is a best fluid out there, but if it is dirty what is the difference between it and clean fluid? Make sure you change the fluid when it is hot, you will see lots of metal. I truly doubt either of the synthetics are going to stop that from happening. RL > RP

Bottom line, crap that is not a lubricant stays in the tranny fluid. It stays there till you drain it.

True....

Good synthetic will help bearing life and help prevent some of the wear that leads to that metal in the fluid. I'm runing Mobile 1 and it works great for me. Good luck!

I had terrible luck with synthetic ATF. I'm running GM Syncromesh now. It shifts better now that when I bought the car.

I could have swore that the newer trannys arent supposed to use a synthetic because the carbon fiber blocker rings dont get along well with a synthetic. Anyone know for sure?

I did my first oil change at 5k miles, put in Redline synthetic.Syncro's were gone at 8k miles.Rebuilt syncro's and now use Coastal reg fluid(cheap)and the tranny shifts alot better.I really abuse my tranny and feel that non-synthetic is the way to go.

Stay away from the B&M trickshift, my tranny didn't like it. Made it real hard to shift. I normally use the cheapest dexcron III ATF i can find it seems to work the best.

I'll agree with the Synchromesh... sure, it's about 8 bucks a quart, but it's worth the extra insurance.

^^^ I agree 100%. I've tried synthetics and my trans would grind alot and was just generally hard to shift. I switched to cheap penzoil atf and the trans shifts like butter!

My last trans had RP in it and I liked it, shifted good when cold but I did blow it up so.....the one I have now had GM ATF in it I think and it shifts great warmed up and a little stiff when cold but I don't bag the car cold anyway....Stick with what the manual says, it's stock, it's been tested by GM, it works.
