Default Is my pilot bearing in all the way?

I know its supposed to be flush with the crank. But is it supposed to be flush with the inside or the lip?

Nope, needs to be flush with the end of the reassessed area in the crank. Its only about halfway in.

Damn, from what I was reading it said smack it with a rubber mallet... that def. wasn't doing the job and I was afraid of getting it seized up in there if I hit it harder.

I guess its time for a bigger hammer.

don't use a bigger hammer, just be smart about how you hit it. Take a socket of about the same size and simply tap on that with the rubber mallet. It WILL go in just fine.

Agreed, it needs to be flush, and use a deep or mid length socket and make sure its the same size so the pressure is put on the edge of the bearing, you can dent them.

I see you put grease on the bushing... you are supposed to soake it in oil.
This is sintered bronze and will adsorb the oil like a sponge.
Grease is good for needle bearings.
I don't know how bad is to use grase, but it's wrong.

You're not supposed to put anything on a bronze bushing as they are self lubricating. They're impregnated with graphite and "sweat" when hot. A very light smear of grease on the input shaft tip is all that's necessary to help seat it in the bushing when installing the trans.

It looks to me like what's pictured is a bearing (you can vaguely see needle bearings), in which case the grease won't hurt a thing.

Ah, yes it is definitely a bearing, not a bushing. I didn't even notice tici said bushing.

Yeah, it's a bearing, not a bushing. The grease should be fine.
