I used two screw drviers and pushed the white ring all the way in but the line won't come off. I spent two hours trying to get it off. Is there a special tool I can use? Is there another way to get the line off? Can I do the drill mods with the line connected to the tranny? Having a tough time.

 

Yeah its #@&^#(*@#'ing impossible! I swear, I fought with mine forever, and gave up. Went back to it a while later and popped it right off in no time. You just need to push that plastic circle way it there. I heard there is a tool to take it off, but never bothered to buy one

 

Mine came off lickity split with two thin bladed, flat screw drivers. If I remeber right, it popped off. Of course, I had the back of the tranny hanging down about 6 inches so I could reach it easier. But bleeding the clutch line afterwards was a bigger pain in the buttocks (Forest Gump's voice dubbed in here)....

 

I pushed that thing in so many times that I chewed up the ring. I am going to call GM and see if there is a special tool? Any ideas?

 

I don't know any specific tricks, but I know the 00 rings are tougher than the 02 rings. It should make a snaping sound when you get it right. It can be such a hassle at times. They make a special tool to get the fuel lines off, so I guess it's possible that they make a tool for the clutch hydraulic line as well.

Yes, they do make a special tool for the hydraulic line. It actually is a Ford tool that most of the Snap-On, Matco, etc. dealers sell. I have also seen it available online and a local parts stores.

I have one from Snap-On, but it looks like almost the same as those above.

 

I say that same tool at KRagen but thought it was too big. I know I got the ring in all the way at least four times but it won't disconnect. Driving me nuts.
