Default royal purple m6 fluid

Hey guys i want to switch my trans fluid to synthetic. I noticed that Six speeds say they only recommend Mobile 1 ATF. I want to switch over to royal purple and on their website they recommend Synchromax for the T56 and not their Max ATF Fluid. Which one should i use?

Syncromax is what I recommend as well . I have built hundreds of manual transmissions ranging from the T56 to T5's and even units in 1 ton trucks and have never seen a case where the fluid was the cause of the damage done to a unit as long as its the correct type (I.E. not putting 75-90wt gear lube in a T56) .

All my tranny's get cheap non-synthetic Dextron 3. RP smoked the syncro's in a few of them we did years ago.

Yah I heard bad things on here about using synthetic in an m6. If you do a search you may get a better answer why. I use Castrol ATF Dex 3 non-synthetic and I dont notice any negative effects as far as shifting in hot or cold weather. I have heard of some people that put different fluids in there trans and it being difficult to shift and get in gear. Especially in cold weather. Good luck!

Not all synthetics are bad, just a few which crossed over the idea to people that synthetic = bad.

Mobil 1 is an excellent fluid. After 100k and Mobil 1 although my reverse was a bit damaged for different reasons, the rest of the transmission looked babied. I rebuilt with the stage 1 kit and still use synthetics. I'm now using Penzoil, but have used Amsoil with good results too. I change every 30k miles and I really abuse this transmission, WOT shifts pretty much each time I drive it and taken down the track 200+ times since 05.

Most of the information you are getting is 2nd hand knowledge from other people and places and repeated .

I have yet to see a single case of failure from using a different fluid than what comes from the factory as long as its similiar in weight and intended use .

Lots of the GTO guys use RP Syncromax on the MN12's in their cars with no problems.
