Looking to buy a new clutch, thinking of the McLeod package and I am wondering what others think I should go with. I have simple bolt ons for now exhaust and lid mainly. but I will be doing gears, headers and a cam in the future.
So should i go with a single disc set up or the twin disc set up????? I am going with the steel flywheel if this helps. Also, how streetable are both of these? Also, organic/organic or kevlar/organic??? Thanks in advance for all input.

i would stay away from the star spec.
it was a piece of junk, after 8k miles, it was smearing, had holding problems, when i would get on it, took it out and you could see it was wasted.
Ive swithed to the Mcloud/ram combo and it holds and works much better. the one i have can hold 6130/402 has worked with 700rwhp cars so it should work for me. and it only costed $315 (with out fly wheel) at detroit speedworks.

another vote for the Mcleod SDK. The Mcleod's are a little on the pricey side, but I think you get what you pay for. The SDK is a great street/strip clutch. I haven't had any slipping issue with it yet. Plus it's barely noticable around town as being aggressive. As my setup gets more aggressive I might have to upgrade to the twin disk, but I'm really happy with the McLeod product and their customer service is top notch.

My spec S3 lasted for 40K miles of hard driving. No real hard drag launches, but hard highway driving. I went to the RAM 402/6130 clutch becasue I plan on hitting the track a little more often now.

I will add a vote for the McLeod street twin. I've gone through a centerforce(POS) a McLeod single disc(not enough) and then the street twin. I have put down over 820 rwhp and 940 rwtq with my LS1 and the clutch loves it. I have run a 9.94 run on it also. I launch the hell out of it and it is also great on the street.
Also my buddy, Taner has pulled a 9.60 with his in his LT1 and also some 1.2x-1.3x 60' passes.
So we have a bit of experience with these babies.
Good luck with your decision. My advice is to spend the money once and get the big boy.

Yet another vote for the McLeod single disk. I got the kevlar/organic version and it has been awesome. No chatter whatsoever and a near-stock pedal feel. It was SUPER stiff for the first 100 or so shifts, but has loosened up quite a bit to feel like stock....but instead of slipping under WOT, it grabs like a mother. I need to re-adjust the master since the clutch engagement point has been steadily moving away from the floor during the break-in. No complaints about this unit.... except it is a bit on the pricey side.

My single/kevlar puts rubber on the road in 4th. Never chattered at all. I don't think it is exspensive at all when you consider all that you get. If the SPEC's came with the flywheel and a billet adj. master cylinder, they'd cost more too. I know guys that have been runnin low 11's with 1.5-1.6 60's on ET streets for several years. This clutch can take some abuse.

McLeod just came out with a new dual disk line. It's called the RST & RXT, see link. They will handle 800 and 1000 hp respectively. You can use your existing flywheel. Price for the RST is around $675...
