I owned a 01 GTP and loved it. We traded it in on a 05 comp G gtp and the new one rides like complete ****. The interior looks cheaper than the 97-03 models, sound system way better in 97-03 models. The wife regrets trading the the 01 now and after having the 05 for a little over a year she hates it. MAKE SURE you test drive it first, car feels like its riding on a pogo stick and you feel every bump, crack or pebble on the road.

I would go '97-'03. A lot more fun and better looking IMO. Especially since you can get a coup. If you have any questions about them let me know. Mine was a tune away from a 12 second time slip before I sold it.

I dont know how the 05s ride, my 99 is prolly one of the smoothest riding cars I ever owned.

I like my 2004 CompG GTP. I had an 00' GT Coupe before, yes the newer one rides a little rougher only reason that is is because of the stiffer suspension(CompG/GTP pkgs) they put into these things. Working on getting an Inferno front air damn, 3.5" pulley, and a Wizaired CAI. Just to wake it up a little.

great lookin car, i got the same rims, you mean the 3.4 pulley? Can you just do the 3.4 pulley or do you need any supporting mods?

I suggest visiting and reading up on them: www.gpona.com

If you want a 3.4 or lower you must do the PCM mod, otherwise on the newer 3800 Series III Gen V blowers will cause severe KR. The older generation grand prix's 97-03 could handle a smaller pulley like a 3.4 w/o any severe issues. Which is why I want to run a 3.5 or 3.6 to play it safe. I don't feel like doing a downpipe, PCM mod, etc. Keep it basic

Also common problems with the 04's is the loose headlight, Intermediate steering shaft, and any other interior flaws that GM is notorious for.

My dad has an 04 gtp and I love it. Alot of torque for what it has.... Only thing ids it doesn't get very good gas mileage. Like 18/24.

I have an '04 Comp G with 23k on it if you're interested. Sport red metallic, black leather, HUD, polished 5 spokes, every available option. Got a baby on the way so I can't afford to keep such a nice daily driver that I never really drive.

You need a cold air intake and possibly a 3-inch downpipe. If anyone has questions about the L67 or L32 (GTP motors) let me know. I'll be glad to help.

I've got an 04 comp g and love the power and looks (burnt orange). What I dont like is the back seat because it is so flat and low. Anyone in the back is going to slide around when you are "driving" the car. Another problem I have came across was that the computer for that year (04 only) can be a little Btchy when you put on a remote start but its a $60 fix. Also when I got the car it had a set of lowering springs on it and looked great but it was just to rough for me. If anyone is interested in the springs let me know.

I've got an 05 CompG GTP as well. The wife drives it every day. 26 mpg and she's not afraid to blow the cobbs out either.

I had a 2000 GTP and now have a 2006 GT (supercharged). I love the ride alot better than the older style and the seats are more comfortable by far. I wish they made an aftermarket PCM for it though. I think its due to the low demand.
