Default Track prep at eddyville?

It's never been the best but last night was probably the worst I have seen it on a bracket day. first run 11.5 psi 8.57 with new 26" cheater slicks. second pass 10.0 psi, 8.37(got traction with a big burnout. third pass 10.0 psi, 8.31. last pass 10.0 psi, huge burnout and lost all traction on 1-2 shift 8.40. I know it's always been bad but with just headers and 4.10 gears and all my suspension that's horrible. A lot of the pro ET guys also had this trouble.
Anybody have this problem yet this year?

I had the same problem on friday night, the best 60 ft I could manage was a 1.97 60 foot. If I would try to go any harder it would spin. I had stock 16's on the back with ET Streets.

I'm good friends with the a guy that was the assistant manager until last friday. He said they haven't been prepping the track good enough and when he asked about it the manager told him to mind his own.....

I wouldn't ever judge a track based on one night! I've been to Eddyville, Cedar falls, and tri-state. I've had nights at both Eddyville and Cedar falls that were like skating rinks. I've also had nights at both tracks that it was hooking like crazy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we have major down pours earlier that day? Wasn't it also kind of chilly? Alot of factors come into play. I've only been to tri-state once and if I based my opinion on that one time it was the fastest track in Iowa, but they also kicked me out the first time there.

I've run consistent 6.6x and as fast as 6.58 at Eddyville on 275 drag radials with a 3800 pound race weight. My 60' were in the 1.5 range.

Maybe you're right and the track sucked that night, but don't judge it for life based on one night.

Lol, umm yeah, track prep was terrible. At the begginning of the night, my best 60 foot was a 2.1 by the end of they night i could only muster a 2.2 and worse. Regrettably I was on a set of Kumho street tires, so I knew I was going to play hell getting traction, but I didn't think I would spin doing a 2nd gear launch to the 330 mark. I even tried leaving off idle and then feathering the throttle past the 60 foot mark, that netted me the 2.1, 60foot. It was kinda funny running high 9's and low 10's at 90mph
I've been there times before where I could basically side step it at 4k and hook though. They probably saw the rain in the forcast, decided the turnout might be terrible and to not waste the money, but I don't know for sure.

Still early in the year down there too, track is still green. I've been there a lot over the years & always know that is going to be 50/50 if the track is good or not. It is a nice 1/8 mile track, but I never get real excited to race 1/2 passes.

If I would have been there I would of tried to make my passes right after that guy...lol.

You can't expect much when they are running street drags besides everyone is running on the same track so it's equal conditions for everyone. When you run street tires you often drag water up to the line and there really isn't any way to drive around the water at eddyville.

That is one of two cars that I make sure I watch every time they run. You guys were hooking good all the way down. I'm going friday to see if maybe my suspension is just that far off and if not I'll just throw on my 28'' and be done with it for the season. It wasn't as bad as it has been on the midnight madness nights though. Just seemed "bad" for a bracket day. Usually on the bracket days it's a little better and they didn't get rain saturday. I just don't see going to a 26" from a 28" causing that many problems. O well I'll figure it out one way or another.

I didnt have to much problems hooking. I launched around 2000 each time with the best 60ft of 1.61. I tried to stall it a little higher but spun out of the hole. Finally got a 7.69 at 89mph. Not bad for a fairly stock car.

I talked to him too. I'm trying to talk him into coming back and racing at least... He's a good friend of mine and has taught me alot.

Would anyone be willing to help me out with my suspension setup so I can hook this thing?

Umi tunnel brace mounted adj. torque arm, single adj. lca's, on car adjust panhard bar, QA1 front drag shocks and springs and I just ordered some lca relocation brackets. I'll be at eddyville friday night to try and tune the suspesion a little before brackets saturday.
