I still have my cars under my dads name so insurance is cheaper but to get to the point my dad had surgery on both of his eyes and the doctor recommended that he get tinted windows to keep the glare off his eyes. So every that is in his name is legal to have tinted windows.

This bill becomes law effective immediately.
NOW LEGAL tint combinations.
1. Up to 35% in the Rear/up to 35% front
2. 35-30% in the rear/up to 50% front
3. IF YOU HAVE BELOW 30% TINT IN THE REAR, YOU CAN NOT HAVE FRONT TINT If you have an MPV, which include but are not limited to, SUVs, Station Wagons, minivans, Toasters, etc., and said MPV has factory installed privacy glass (smoked), you are allowed to have up to 50% tint in front.

This is a HUGE shocker. I didnt think IL would ever change the tint laws. I know what im doing this week for sure.
Now like was said before........front plates need to go. They should.....it would cut the fee of the state making plates in half.

Great news.
Got pulled over Friday night for my tints and a light out on the back. Didn't get a ticket for that stuff though, I did mention this law being very close to passing, and since I was cooperative I got a warning and recommendation to go get a new license plate light and warned to take the tint off until the law passed.
Anyways, WOOT! This is awesome!

i called the dmv today and they said you have to have a medical condition and a signed form from your doctor which has to be in your call at all times and you have to get some sort of tag on your plates(maybe an entirely different plate) on the car, if you dont have both you will recieve citations. so you cant just tint your windows and drive off. i am not sure on how strict the doctors are going to be about that form for someone who has no legit medical condition

its a whole new plate with black lettering instead of red. all you have to do is bring the form into an eye doctor and have them fill it out. a couple of my buddies just went to a small eye doctor and told them their eyes are sensitive and they wanted tints. they paid for an eye exam and the doctor wrote that they had sensitive eye sight and they got the tint plates.
if you go to an expensive eye doctor chances are they'll know you just want the tints and deny you. go to a smaller place that's just happy to make the $30 for the exam and they'll write anything on the form for you.

Well that's if you want limo tint (or anything beyond 35%).. You can go out and get 35% all around right now and it's completely legal. No doctor's note or anything. The law just changed so it will take a little time before every employee at every DMV knows it.
