???Trailer title question???

???Trailer title question??? I'm from illinois and i'm wanting to purchase a snowmobile trailer from a guy in indiana. Well...of course he doesnt have a title and he said he would give me a bill of sale. Question is how or can i even get one for it? Or is that something he would have to do? Thanks for any reply
Maybe Indiana is like Michigan where we don't need trailer titles, just a bill of sale like he said. I bought a trailer before with just a bill of sale and had no problem plating it. You make it sound like it must be stolen.

I heard from another business owner in my industrial park, that they require the receipt for new axles now,
before they give out homemade trailer titles??? Might want to double check before you get stuck with a trailer
they won't let you use??

He assured me it wasnt stolen and that we could run the vin to make sure. I've thought about the homemade deal..but wasnt sure it would slide for an enclosed aluminum trailer.
