Its been a while since i've had to post anything like this. I appear to have a gremlin in the car. It won't turn over. Starter is good, battery has a full charge, and everything but cranking happens when i turn the key. I have looked up one side and down the other, and can't figure out why it won't turn over. Any ideas?
I probably should mention that its an M6 car, and the clutch button under the pedal appears to be functioning properly. All i wanted to do was terrorize the neighborhood for a bit.

most likely it is the wire for the anti-theft in your steering column. its probably broken. Same thing happened to me. pretty simple fix. just take the steering wheel off and the ignition out and i bet youll find the problem

Might check the resistor on the key before you take the column apart. If you have another ignition key....try that. I had that problem with my fbody. It won't turn over and the the security light on the dash will flash.

well i tried both keys...one has only been used about a dozen or so time, so i don't think that is the problem. that and the security light doesn't flash. it comes on with the ignition and then goes off after a few seconds. i will pull it apart today and check it.

alot of times it seems like the contacts in the key cylinder wear out. so even if you use a new key it still wont work. what you have to do is measure the resistance of the chip in the key. go to radio shack and get a resistor that matches that value and you can cut the two white wires in the orange insulation and wire i n the resistor. this will bypass the chip in the key all together. also no need to take off the steering wheel, just the panel underneath the dash to get to the bottom of the column.

well. its wasn't the ignition wires. It appears that my pass side O2 wires had shorted and melted....ground wire was broken and stuck to another signal wire. i pulled the O2 and inserted an old one i had and bingo. Must've shorted the cpu signal.
On another note i noticed a lot of wires i still need to button up since i put the tubular K in 6 years ago. I guess if I ever got it out of the garage and actually worked on it once in a while...and yes it hasn't been driven for almost 7 years
