The car was taken just before the break in oil was changed and the final tuning completed.

11-18-17 the power of social media. The TA was spotted by someone that learned about the theft via my girlfriend's Facebook post. The person followed and reported the sighting to law enforcement. When law enforcement began to follow the stolen TA it appears the car stalled and suspects quickly abandoned the car and tried to flee on foot. According an eye witness two males and a female were arrested.

Hopefully, in a few days the TA will be processed through impound and evidence collection completed. Then I can determine condition...

The original dealership name is still on car Dick Keffer

Indeed the thieves could barely drive straight drive - car stalled as police closed in according to an eye witness.

Gas tank was empty & battery dead when I reclaimed car at police impound.

Sad part is the victim here will be on the hook for the tow fees and impoundment at the lot. it's like getting victimized twice on top of the theft and damage to drivetrain.

You can seek compensation from the victim through the courts which takes some time and you can only hope the low life scum that stole the victim's car has money.

Good luck. At least you got it back.

Amazing. I had no idea that all those tow and impound fees are the victims responsibility.
What a joke. You are right, it really adds insult to injury. Well at least the car is back in his hands. Stealing is the only way these pieces of sh*t will ever have a car that nice.

That's true, I had to pay the $75 tow fee to get the car back. I'm happy to get the car back - small price to pay.

There's some engine damage and the shifter is trashed but I think I can get the car repaired. Norris Motorsports will be taking care of the TA's repairs. Mike did an excellent job with the ERL 416 install. This will be a much bigger price to pay to get the TA in top form again - but worth it.

They broke in my residence while I was at work, cleaned it out and took the keys to the TA. That was the method the thieves used.

Hopefully, I will hear form the shop soon on the engine repairs required.

...and almost four years after...this was'finally settled...

The thief got a class 6 felony conviction, 1 year suspended, 20 days served, 40 hours community service, must pay probation costs and submit to alcohol & drug testing etc.

What a joke

Other details

On the bright side, my 99 T/A was recovered and it only cost ~$7,500 for Norris MotorSports to R&R the engine, put the engine back together again and cover cost of parts. You stuff like Reher-Morrison welding the heads where the broken valves hit from mechanical over rev and CNCing the heads ovef again. Replace two buggered pistons & rods, cam, lifters, rockers. Replace broken ported runners in ported Fast LSXR intake.

The broke valve stuck in the guide so the ERL 416 LSA block wasn't trashed and crank was OK. Hawk's 8.8 was OK as was the Level 6 RPM Magnum.

Took almost eight months to get car fixed. The T/A's been bullet proof since.
