I think you guys might want to research your ethanol facts a little more...it is NOT better for the environment, it is NOT cheaper, we do NOT have enough farmland or corn to even remotely supply enough to reach the levels the government keeps blindly throwing at you, etc. etc. etc...

Putting even E85 into a car not prepped properly can cause the fuel system seals to corrode rather fast, and could cause fires. The best part? Ethanol fires are not extinguished by conventional fire extinguishers or more fire-department foams.
They're making great strides with algae and sawgrass-based ethanols which may actually be feasible someday, but corn ethanol is the biggest joke on the planet.

Sorry for the rant, ethanol is a sore spot of mine

What about sugar cane ethanol that Brazil uses?

What about it? It's not doing so well even in Brazil, where they have the climate to grow enough of it anyway. Farmers get more money selling it for actual sugar than for ethanol. And last time I checked, there wasn't a giant surplus of sugar out there on the market that would leave plenty left over for ethanol production
Not to mention the ecological drawbacks...

TnT? Probably gonna be cancelled though.

Edit: They are cancelled. They only post it on their forums when they cancelled instead of on the main page...

As for E85 you need to remember that ethanol can be made from LOTS of things. Right now, its corn. In the future its going to be from trash in landfills. Ethanol is the way our vehicles are going to be powered in 10 years.

Hell, you can get milk from over 10 different things these days.

Ethanol CAN be made from lots of things (although I don't fully understand the trash reference, unless you mean biomass, which is a WHOLE 'nother can of toxic worms), but so far none have proven to be anything but useless. I'm pulling for it to work too, but I don't see it happening, and definitely not within 10 years. By the time they get ethanol figured out, we'll be on to newer and better technology, I'd be willing bet on it.

On a side note, today we're hosting the annual NSRA Inspection Day and having an open house and car show at Ridetech in Jasper from 9-1 fast time. If you're bored, cruise on up and check it out. If nothing else, it's a tour of a pretty awesome place and a free lunch

Since we are a kick about alternate fuels here is my rant about electric vehicles....

They claim its better for the environment but actually the carbon foot print left from the manufacture of one Toyota Prius is larger than if you were to manufacture a 1950 Belair and drive it until today!

Also, I drive a 1994 Honda Civic all week to work and get 40+ MPG. Its completely stock and cheap to maintain. A Prius doesn't get much better MPG and costs a hell of a lot more!

What are these electric car owners going to do when the batteries start going bad? The batteries cost almost as much as the car!

Agreed. The gov't/car companies/etc. like to throw out all these pros and people blindly suck them up, but when one does a little research and finds the amazing number of cons to most of this stuff...wow. I got started looking into it when it was stated they were looking to build an ethanol/biomass plant a mile from my farm, and I noticed there were all these outrageous claims about how this would be great for the local economy/etc but not a single drawback listed. So I started looking...Sure, the biomass plant can burn cornstalks...but their permits also say they can burn tires, medical waste, animal waste, you name it. Sure, the ethanol plant will bring some tax dollars, but not enough to pay for the repairs to the roads from the extra semi traffic, the special equipment/training the rescue departments will need, the cleanup from those permits allowing them to dump all their waste in our local waterways, on and on and on...it's depressing.
